  1. My old man Allen Terry signed for Batley in 1968, still known as Abe to this day as a fellow prop. RIP
  2. Pure speculation, but at his Q&A evening Tommo told us he thought his son was good enough to make it over here, it would be great to have the next generation setting the mount alight.
  3. Shame to see Martyn is out for possibly the whole of 2024 with an ACL injury, Similar toTom Gilmore, consistent and pretty injury free for 2 seasons with us then a serious injury as soon as he gets to Widnes. Hope he recovers well, was great for us.
  4. What have Kevin and the board done over the years that makes you think we won't assemble a competitive squad before the season starts? Pound for Pound we've probably been the most competitive club in the division over a 13 year period, we regularly finish above teams with a squad costing double that of ours, have some faith. I bet you open all your Christmas presents on Christmas eve.
  5. If your concerned Will Maher has gone elsewhere then I'm concerned about you. He couldn't break a paperbag, not fit to tie the laces of any of our aging props.
  6. Have they caught him yet? I could give him 20m head start and still catch him before the halfway line.
  7. Great signing, very highly rated by the haven fans and from the highlights reel he runs and passes in a very similar style to Hooley.
  8. Young player of the year. Aiden Mcgowan Supporters player of year Aiden McGowan Coaches player of year Kieran Buchannan Players Player Josh Hodson Top try scorer Dale Morton Ever present Ben White and Buchanan Chairman's Award Sue Winner Hodson and Hooley to Cas. That's about it.
  9. As a Batley fan sitting pretty in second place and an uncanny knack of spoiling Fevs party when it counts I am desperate to see my team at Wembley, even with 3k in a 90k stadium it would mean everything to me. There's a fighting chance we could make superleague this season, but a tinpot cup final at Wembley would mean just as much to me.
  10. If you can be this negative after the season we're having imagine how hard it's going to be for you next season when we're in Superleage where there's a good chance we will lose every game.
  11. We've lost our first league game since Good Friday against a good team and the we're back to doom n gloom, the players are too old, we need young blood, the board aren't backing the coach blah blah. Our squad has cost less than half of Keighleys squad, its a near miracle that we are where we are. We're over halfway through the league and joint second, surely the board and our OAP squad deserve a bit of credit. I'm throughly enjoying this season, Sunday was another brilliant day out regardless of the result. Well done to the guys at Fox's for putting on the band and magician etc.
  12. No i cant, human nature to look down on those less fortunate than you, however I had 2 Dewsbury fans round for tea last week, I still go to Cross' for my pies and cooked meat on a Saturday morning and regularly light a candle for you lot on a Sunday so I'm not all bad.
  13. Not Batleys greatest performance but good teams find a way to win when they're a bit off it. (Man City last night). We've got to be delighted with joint second at this stage as I don't feel we've hit our full potential yet. No easy games this season without Dewsbury in our league but no reason why we can't win the next 4 before a trip to Toulouse.
  14. The league game on Sunday between Batley and York is free admission for everyone, it's the annual Jo Cox big get together game, I'd urge any RL fans who haven't got a game on Sunday to get along if you can, for those who have never been to the Mount You'll love it,those who have been before will vouch for the home cooked food, drink and good craic, it should be a good close game too. There will be live music, fairground rides, street food and a warm up game between the British Asian RL and Colostomy UK RL. On a warm sunny day as forecast its a great place to be, and FREE!!!
  15. Moxon is taking over. Its on the website, James Roby would make a nice player/assistant coach!!!!
  16. Gutted but to be expected given the way he goes about coaching, ultimate professional. If we get the win at Wembley Kev better get saving for a statue
  17. Finally someone talking sense, Drop Leaky and Morton now and ģet the young lads in, otherwise we'll be screwed next season. If we'd all listened to you in 2014 and dropped Jon Davis for Jay Leary and in 2017 dropped Brownie for Trae O'Sullivan we'd be in Superleage now.
  18. It was announced on an earlier video. A few existing sponsors have upped their investment to offset the shortfall. I really hope it works out, any championship fans who have been on a warm summers day will vouch for what a great afternoon out it is, when the bouncy castle and other activities is on for the kids and a live band behind the Glen Tomlinson stand, and Batley playing good rugby as the last 2 seasons. The board deserve backing, it's a big gamble.
  19. https://youtu.be/wMB4KCX1Zp4 A great initiative by the board, they were buoyed by the number of fans travelling away in the playoffs last season. Knowing its going to be a financially tough year for fans this will be a big help, hope its a real success, I'll use my extra tenner to bring someone new to the game each week, hopefully a few Superleage neutrals might head along and see what a great sumners day out Mount Pleasant is.
  20. Why do you assume that was the last time we spent big? What do you think it costs to sign 15 players who made it to a grand final last season? Do you think Leaky, manning, Walshaw etc won't have attracted attention from the majority of championship clubs. The fact they enjoy being part of this great club will be a factor in the squad stating together for a third season but they will need paying handsomley as top end Championship players.
  21. Tredesco and Addo-Carr are both late 20's, at that age they can't keep performing to a high standard forever, we need to be looking at younger players with potential, like Elliot Hall.
  22. We get there the same way we have in the past, good players, good coach, teamwork. Behind possibly Fev and Fax we are the most consistent and successful club in the division for the past 12 years, what's different this time. Linners has proved over two seasons that a consistent side beats one with a big squad overhaul, we added Hodson, Meadows and Riley last season and improved on 2021. Weve added 4 players this time so lets see. What success did the big spend bring Fev, York, Newcastle last season? Whatever big bucks Keighley spend they can't buy Leaky, Manning, Walsham, Campbell, any of Keighleys big bux players gonna replace them in our team? I really don't know why you bother with RL it seems to bring so much anguish to your life.
  23. Why the obsession with a player who couldn't cement a first 13 spot when he was with us, moved on and couldn't cement a starting spot and has now dropped a division? We've signed an international captain with superleague experience, I trust Linners has got the man he wanted, and not made a makeshift signing because we couldn't get Hall. Really don't get the all negativity.
