  1. I think there's been enough moments for a highlights reel that could make the first half look misleadingly good.
  2. A spectacular winner for the Bunnies... called back for a forward pass. Tigers get their fifth win of 2024 with 18:16.
  3. A procession, mostly. Ricky's not going to be happy.
  4. Monty Burns in The Simpsons answers the phone with "ahoy-ahoy" in a nod to Alexander Graham Bell and Mr Burns' immense age.
  5. A hat-trick for Dom Young - his first for the Roosters. Conversion missed, so it is 38:4
  6. A try for Sitili Tupouniua on his 100th NRL game. 34:4
  7. Two blokes with forks, trying to drain an entire stadium. Er, good luck.
  8. The Roosters are not so much taking advantage of the extra man, as taking the p*** 24:0 now!
  9. I know a lot of people were happy when the older folks retired from Cricket commentary. But the current lot's first and last resort when it comes to the "fill the gaps" chat seems to be just deathly-dull middle-aged lads' golf bantz.
  10. I'm a Kurkov fan anyway, but I'd recommend this. I think it's his first attempt at non-contemporary fiction. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that he was planning more stories based on the main characters and I'd be up for that.
  11. Has anyone here contacted Sky, to ask (politely) if/when catch-up viewing will become available for Super League?
  12. Asofa-Solomona has been binned for accidentally smashing Cameron Munster's face open. Not sure whether I've seen a player penalised for hitting a team-mate before.
  13. Australia’s maiden Jillaroos captain Natalie Dwyer will headline the first class of women’s players to be inducted into the NRL’s Hall of Fame. Officials confirmed on Thursday six women will enter the league’s Hall of Fame, in an historic move for the game. Dwyer will be the first player to be officially inducted, along with Katrina Fanning, Tarsha Gale, Veronica White, Karyn Murphy and Tahnee Norris. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/aug/15/nrl-hall-of-fame-women-inductees-natalie-dwyer-tahnee-norris
  14. There's some stupid stuff going around whose USP is just that it's really hot.
  15. Is that like Gjetost? I do like it, but only in small quantities or it gets a bit cloying.
  16. I think that's the eighth Culture novel (and the Ninth Culture book overall).
  17. It's worse than that: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cy84x7rrppno In an interview with the Times, external, Thorpe's wife Amanda said he had been suffering from depression and anxiety over recent years. "Despite having a wife and two daughters whom he loved and who loved him, he did not get better," she said. "He was so unwell in recent times and he really did believe that we would be better off without him and we are devastated that he acted on that and took his own life.
