  1. How's about this, Widnes is part of the borough of Halton. The population of Halton appears to be around the 128,000 mark. Another couple of thousand new arrivals and the population increases above 130,000. Regardless of any interest in rugby league the new arrivals give Widnes another 0.5 point. Its ridiculous but its quite possible.
  2. I've just rerun Bradford with 35 clubs, as such the incremental changes to 0.1143. Therefore Bradford get: 2.1744 points for 17th pace in 2021 1.7143 points for 21st place in 2022 2.2857 Points for 16th place in 2023 2.1744 + 1.7143 +2.2857 = 6.1714 6.1714/3 = 2.06 If you run them with 34 clubs you get an overall of 2.00 points. I have to admit this has me beat.
  3. I have just had a look at Hunslet's performance score which to the best of my knowledge is the only other figure out there. Hunslet are reporting a performance figure of 0.46. In 2021 Hunslet finished 6th in League 1 (32nd overall). They then lost in the elimination play off thus giving them 6th place (32nd) for 0.5556 points. In 2022 Hunslet finished 7th in League 1 (33rd overall) for 0.4444 points. In 2023 Hunslet finished 2nd in League 1 however they then lost in the preliminary final thus giving them 4th place (30th) for 0.7778 points. 0.5556 + 0.4444 + 0.7778 = 1.7778 points 1.7778/3 = 0.5926 or 0.59 points. Somethings not adding up here.
  4. Can't imagine the clubs are calculating their performance scores. Surely the RFL or IMG have done that. Thing is, if I'm right about Bradford and they've messed up just about the easiest calculation what else is out there?
  5. Re the Bradford performance score of 2.17: In 2021 Bradford finished 5th in the championship. In the play offs they went out in the first round as did the 6th place team Whitehaven. Therefore according to IMG (Appendix 1) as the higher placed team eliminated they finished the season in 5th place (17th overall) and scored 2.2222 points. In 2022 Bradford finished 9th in the championship (21st overall) and scored 1.7778 points. In 2023 Bradford finished 3rd in the championship. In the play offs they went out in the second round as did the 1st place team Featherstone. Therefore according to IMG (Appendix 1) as the lower placed team eliminated they finished the season in 4th place (16th overall) and scored 2.3333 points. Therefore 2.2222+1.7778+2.3333=6.3333 which when divided by 3 =2.1111 or 2.11, not 2.17. So can someone better informed than me point out where I've gone wrong?
  6. "Cough cough." About a month ago I questioned exactly this scenario.
  7. Just imagine, London finish 8th to 10th in Superleague and Wakefield finish 3rd and don't win the championship Grand Final and the spreadsheet still says Wakefield. Probably needs something like that to happen just to show how skewed this system is.
  8. Population of Liverpool is closer to half a million.
  9. Is this HFH Ste? Is it probable that without an academy they've nowhere for young players to play? From what I've heard on TV St Helens seem to do quite a lot of fishing in that pond. How do Widnes keep St Helens mitts off them all things considered.
  10. When Hull KR went down last time forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't they stay full time thus buying themselves into the top division with a squad playing at a different level to everyone else? Did you find that unfair and illogical? When they came back up how did they make the league better and more valuable? I don' t remember an out pouring of grief on here with posters claiming the league was devalued by the loss of Hull KR. Like wise the league was hardly made more valuable by their return, well certainly not in Sky's opinion as the value of the TV contract seems to be constantly spiralling downwards. Truth be told, the same teams have been involved in Superleague since its inception with a few clubs making cameo appearances. You could probably make a decent argument for binning the lot of them as opposed to locking them in.
  11. Could London become the first casualty of IMG's spreadsheet? Not sure that was the plan. Still, sacrifices have to be made.
  12. No doubt come next Saturday night, there will be many on here who didn't attend the Grand Final bemoaning the fact that others didn't attend the Grand Final.
