The Transfer Rumour Mill Thread

Honestly I would love to have Sam Stone running that right edge for Leigh like he did in the championship, Big, fast, strong athletic runner with good hands, Salford seem to have put him on the left all year and it seems to have taken him most of the season to get used to it. Hughes is a big body but his best is well behind him, I’m sure he offers a lot to the team in experience but sadly not on the field, Holmes similar, 100% player and no coincidence was starting for us in our long run of wins mid season. I think Lam sees our back rows as Halton on the right and ODonnell on the left. I’m happy with those. -
Congratulations Catalans…………but

Why is it always leigh that gets dragged into these threads?? -
Catalans are an example of a well run Rugby League club, they deserve their spot at Old Trafford. They have been top of SL for 3/4 of the season so really the RFL should have been planning for this outcome. However! There will always be the counter argument surrounding the benefit of their inclusion in the English game, IF they had brought any TV deal to the table with any reasonable money to throw into the pot then it would be a no brainer, but they have had since 2006 and we are still no closer to that materialising even though Toulouse have been there or there abouts for 5 years. If they did miraculously negotiate a TV deal would they even be willing to throw it in the pot? Yesterday they had only 2 french lads in the starting 13 with 3 more on the bench so they are still really no further on than they were in 2006, 6 of the starting players were English. Is the French national team any better than it was? Are they improving? Let’s not forget the French federation cancelled the World Cup, there is a distinct lack of appetite to promote RL in France but yet it seems to be the responsibility of the English game/Sky Sports to fund/televise/promote the game over there, how hard are they working to invest and fund a full time professional system over there? They have already removed themselves from the Challenge Cup, Toulouse now even choose to opt out! All this is before we even talk about our principal sponsor can’t be used in France, before we talk about away fans, do Sky even care about Catalans, would they rather see another English club back in the top flight with potential to sell dishes/subscriptions/ advertising.Could the money spent on travel help fund a 14 team Super League?? It not hard to understand why so many CEO’s question their viability as they will see the affected support and income more than most.

The sooner SL teams are mandated into having academies, reserves, etc the better.

Looks to me like Croft’s agent has started the Leigh rumour to gently push Leeds with an improved offer. -

He will soon lose all that ambition and willingness to invest after dealing with the RFL for a few weeks. I only found out this week that playoff games are classed as RFL events and ticket sales go to them minus expenses. Even if it’s at your home ground. -

He also rubbished Dupree leaving, Croft or Milford either would do for me, Croft preferably as he is already settled and local, a few of the young Leigh Aussies live in Manchester. I have been a fan of Milford for a while but his form has been inconsistent but when he is on, he’s electric. We have come a long way to be linked with this calibre of on player. -
Leigh saved their worst performance of the season for the run in to the playoffs, we currently look spent, our small squad looks to be feeling the pinch, last night without Halton, Hardaker, Asiata and Leutele we looked lost and in my opinion we will fade in the playoffs. I do feel sympathy towards Wakefields fans & Players as I’ve been there 3 times with Leigh and it’s not a great feeling, I do however feel a small sense of satisfaction after knowing how a few clubs (Wakefield included) screwed Leigh over in 2021, sometimes Karma comes back to get you.

Anthony Milford is a top class player on his day, only 29 years old and exciting to watch he was Dolphins Marquee for 2023 however he has been blighted with rumours of a bad attitude. Ipape was released by the Hunters for a so called bad attitude and he has been brilliant at the club and community so hopefully if it comes off we get the “professional” version of Milford, he has the potential to be a real exciting SL player. -
You came so close then Meast to actually posting a positive comment.
