  1. I think this sums up why some crowds have been poor. Heartlands RL fans know the games aren't going to be competitive so are deciding to stay home and watch on TV plus there's so many games being played close to each other they can pick and choose. Any games involving NZ, Australia and England which were potential walkovers could have been played in places like Bristol and London. If they only had one game to go to at these grounds then they would be an easier sell and the locals might not be put off by potential one sided games
  2. Without being negative I don't think any nation who doesn't have a minimum amount of domestic clubs and juniors should be allowed to enter the WC.
  3. Hopefully IMG will see sense and advise England play 2 tests against France during the season with Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Jamaica playing each other at the same time
  4. I'm hoping after this weekends fixtures and a bit more clarity of potential QF match ups that there might be a spike in ticket sales for the rest of the tournament
  5. There's potential in some of the Eastern European countries such as Poland, especially with such a large population in the UK most of who were born in Poland like Oledski. If we could achieve a balance of building strong grassroots in Poland and engaging the communities in the UK then they could become a strong nation within Europe. Same goes for Hungary, Czechia, Ukraine, Lithuania
  6. I know they're doing it. There's Euro, Americas, MEA and Pacific cup. I think they need to stay as regular tournaments in the calendar and built up to become big tournaments in their own right. I would just like to see one tournament between WCs that gives England and the best nations from Europe, MEA and Americas the chance to take on the SH teams
  7. As others have mentioned the main 4 would be France, PNG, Fiji and possibly Wales as they have a domestic set up and with a bit of investment and emphasis on junior development they might be able to step up and challenge the big 3. Underneath I'd say Jamaica, Nigeria, Lebanon and Ireland all have the potential to progress and challenge at the top of tier 2. I also think Serbia might be able to step up and challenge some of the tier 2 nations in the future if they can progress their domestic scene and add some heritage players
  8. Which of the nations outside of the obvious Aus, NZ, England Tonga, Samoa etc has the potential to step up and progress at international level. PNG and France are the most obvious ones but which country out of Lebanon, Wales, Ireland, Greece, Italy, Nigeria and Jamaica has the potential to become a strong international team using a combination of heritage players and domestic development
  9. Good to hear they've got some good juniors coming through. I knew about the Salford link. Do any other SL clubs have any Welsh juniors on their books? Will the Crusaders and Raiders benefit from this junior development? Sorry to keep asking questions but I'm interested in the future of Welsh RL
  10. Exactly. It needs to be set in stone and released for everyone to see
  11. I don't know. What is the international plan for the next couple of WC cycles?
  12. Have Wales got some good juniors coming through? What pro clubs are they attached to?
  13. I just hope we have something each year for all nations plus mid season tests. There's got to be a plan for other tournaments outside of WCs
  14. I don't like the thought of a WC in USA. I'd prefer countries where we could build the game. Could spread it around 4 European countries with a group and a QF based in each country. A Greek group including Greece Irish including Ireland. Italian including Italy Welsh group including Wales QF in each country then 2 for each semi and 1 for the final
  15. I keep changing my mind about what tournaments I would like to see. The main thing I would like to see is several tournaments at the end of the season covering all levels plus 2 mid season tests for a lot of the nation's. If we went for a 4N with a 2nd tier 4N underneath then there could be an intercontinental cup at the same time with representatives from Americas, MEA, Europe and Pacific if there are any not included in 4N. 4N - Aus, NZ, Tonga, England 4N tier 2 - Fiji, Samoa, PNG, France Intercontinental - Jamaica, Nigeria, Lebanon, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Greece/Italy, Cook Islands
  16. I'd love to see a tournament involving Australia, NZ, England and a combined PI team.
  17. That could backfire though. He brings the ball back well so should get us on a roll. If it's a broken line he could make some big yardage
  18. A NZ vs England WC final would be great promotion for next year's series
  19. Have the ticket sales passed the 400,000 barrier yet? They can't be far off
  20. I had to Google what the word meant. I couldn't find it in the RL dictionary
  21. There's a few ex footballers Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Stuart Pearce, Joey Barton, Chris Kamara. Also the Brownleee brothers, Jonny Vegas, Russell Crowe
  22. That's why making these regional tournaments qualifiers for bigger tournaments involving the top nations might work. Gives them something to play for and might encourage players to commit if they know they've got a chance of playing against the better sides the following year
