Ambassadors of Australia and UK were the major driver in getting this across the line. Fantastic news. Onwards and upwards for them. -
Both of your comments just demonstrate how naive you are to the matter. Had someone else presented me such a strong and certain position I disagreed with, I would have conducted at least the slightest amount of research before I would have responded. Any such simple search would have helped you to identify the following 9 non-Australian Commonwealth nations made up of domestic nationals to have competed in the most recent of International Series. NZ PNG GB Canada Nauru Fiji Sth Africa India Sri Lanka The eligibility criteria for an Australian born individual to represent another nation is significantly more difficult than the criteria for that same individual to represent another nation in the RLEF. So no, it’s not a bunch of ex-pats getting together for a lark. So are you putting your bottom dollar up as well @gingerjon?

Hearing RL fans trash on international Australian Rules Football is a little sanctimonious. The AFL are under no illusion on the strength of international competition, but neither are most level headed RL fans to the likes of Malta, Norway, Belgium, Germany et al strength in RL. In my opinion, international grassroots competition of both sports deserves praise. The AFL would have no trouble fielding 8 Commonwealth nations in a C Games demonstration event, pitched as an “international celebration of a Victorian sport”. So, that bottom dollar is not necessarily yours yet @gingerjon.

Yeah, the explanation was just downright weak.

The Run In To The Finals
Sports Prophet replied to Sports Prophet's topic in The Australian Rugby League Forum
The Cows will need three more wins to reach the Panthers. In those three wins, overhaul about 90 points difference. Considering the final game is against the Panthers, then any points difference there is doubled. Very feasible. Panthers have far too superior for and against to Sharks, so they would need to lose all five games for the Sharks to pass them. I think we will learn a lot about the Panthers in the next 2 weeks and a lot on how much the other contenders have closed the gap since earlier in the season. -
Rugby League World Cup 2021 (Merged Threads)

It’s no loss. The promo of the RLWC on 9 hasn’t existed anyway. The networks are pretty poor with any cross reporting of sports not on their own network. NRL and AFL of course get a look in on competitor networks, but the sports roundup on the news these days is almost exclusively the sports included on their own network. Pretty weak. -
It’s a possibility in my eyes. They could stumble into second. Cleary will miss the remainder of the regular season and Luai will return for the last game at best. Their next five games: Canberra Melbourne Souths NZ NQ The Warriors at home should be a gimmie, but maybe not even that if they are coming off four losses in a row (inc Parra on the weekend just gone). Meanwhile Cowboys have: Canterbury Easts NZ Souths Penrith That last round match Panthers v Cows up in Townsville will be massive. Sharks chance of sneaking into top 2???? St G Wests Girly Canterbury Newcastle Destiny in their own hands, but have Broncos, Storm, Eels and Bunnies all hot on their heels. It’s gonna be a great five weeks.

AFL up against NRL in Brisbane
Sports Prophet replied to Anita Bath's topic in The Australian Rugby League Forum
Does seem a strange call. Maybe they’re flexing their muscle while the Lions are strong enough. 2022 Home game crowd averages ytd Broncos: 27,937 Lions: 24,535 Thats pretty tight for what we are told is the most RL heartland of all RL heartlands. -
Time to get rid of the bunker?
Sports Prophet replied to The Future is League's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Previously, maybe originally, the video referee was joined by a former player to make judgement on decisions, similar to the NHL. I think it turned into a bit of a farce. There are far more technical aspects throughout the course of a PTB to try than there is for a goal in Ice Hockey. I would argue any call for a cookie cutter model for various sports on the use of video technology. In saying that. I think it has a place in the game. As so many have said before, use it for tries only and one captains challenge each. -

What makes no sense? Not fixing the fixture in November or not fixing it until a few weeks before the game? -
Surely too expensive a risk. Take the five and see him in first week of finals where they will have the second chance.

That he has signed for Dolphins of course. Why would confirmation he is not going to Redcliffe distract the current season? Timeline fits, it’s the end of July. I reckon he could go straight in as a first team coach, but there are benefits to working as an understudy to Bennett at Redcliffe don’t you think. Coaching can be a very short career, so he shouldn’t be in any rush. Another couple of years under the guidance of Bennett can only help improve his coaching and assist the longevity of his career. -

Just saw the first ad in Aus. You must have watched the same one. First one I have seen. Good to see that Foxtel are giving it an early push straight after Origin. Hope to see this ad and more versions more and more as the weeks pass. -
Are you sure England is better then Samoa?
Sports Prophet replied to Young Blood's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Well, as I noted, it’s not a similar format to other tournaments at all. It’s actually unique. As I said, I don’t class it as unfair though. You are right. To win it, you still have to beat the best. -

I reckon it was a leak and both Wolf and Saints don’t want news of a departure to derail the season. I’m expecting him at Redcliffe next year.
