The Transfer Rumour Mill Thread
Lowdesert replied to Mumby Magic's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
So this is evidence based or just another guess Harry? We are taking about signing young players who did not fit the bill not just exchanging the playing roster, which all clubs do. Recently I can only think of 2 young players. Longstaff, who has gone from club to club. Good competitor but just not big enough for SL, although he has the heart of a lion and Denive Balmforth who is still with the club. -

Which ones specifically? Whatever ‘bit of previous’ means, Hull FC can never be criticised for the work done to bring players into the club. Granted, they’ve made some decisions on players who’ve gone on to be better players but that probably applies to most SL teams. -

He’s been on trial from Albi but then got injured and has since been rehabilitating. Must have shown something to warrant a contract. The bits I’ve seen show he’s an aggressive and a strong runner. Fingers crossed he gets back to full fitness as soon as possible. -
Kenny Edwards vs. Referess/RFL

Callum Walker. You weren’t expecting anything of substance where you? Adverts where tip top though. -
There are ways to ‘hold’ water, such as underground tanks that help to irrigate and also capture surface water run off Aggy. HKR had that option but opted out of it for a swale, that is no use to anyone other than a wetlands area. They can’t just jump the environmental requirements though, that will just delay things and may also incur further costs for the advice they are receiving!

Congratulations Catalans…………but

Criticism of the number of non French has been common on here though Dave. Imo, with no data to back it up, a lot more than the uk clubs receive. Bitterness even comes from from fans of clubs with French players in their own teams. It doesn’t seem to bother NRL teams supporters and the Dolphins, Melbourne are just 2 examples. -
It isn’t. All new builds require reductions in outfalls etc etc to reduce the risk to both themselves but more importantly the rest of the area. Waste water pipes dimensions are also more limited.Whoever is trying to push this through needs to engage with an organisation who know what they’re doing.

I think the NRL control it far better than we do. They seem to clear the ruck much quicker. It’s ok trapping a player in a gang tackle and slowly manipulating them to ground but the flops come in far too late and defenders hands continue to push, pull, grab even when the player has regained his feet. Sorry but I can’t see many positives in the area at all.

A note about Match Threads

Main reasons I barely post on here anymore. -
Development officers did go into these places though. Once the DO’s started to be dropped and Clubs took over the RL/school relationships were never the same for, imo, two main reasons. Most of the development officers I knew were passionate about getting kids playing and for little money. Players being told to go into schools saw it as a more PR chore. Clubs employed people with sports science quals on their way up the ladder, again for little money, but the Club/School or College relationships soon became fragmented when that person quickly moved on for better paying roles.

Kate Middleton,, Wheelchair Rugby League and Hull FC
Lowdesert replied to JohnM's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Fantastic that she is getting involved. We really are doing well with wheelchair RL. Shame Harry couldn’t have added support but maybe William can now be encouraged. I would love to see Care Balding permanently involved as well. Great ambassador. -

Yes! Edited for accuracy. Decent player when I’ve seen him play. -

Bailey Sironen to Catalans. Another connection between MvNamara and his past NRL clubs. To replace Whitley I would imagine. -
Month long French road trip.

Not a bad way to do it mate. Heck of a lot of places to park up with ‘the camping car’ . Plenty used to park up right on the coast side road between Candy and St.Cyprien Plage. Some of those pull ins along the road from Port Leucate up to Narbonne interesting though. Always had a Lady looking after them. -

Between Montpellier and Marseille. Montpellier is a nice place though as is Marseille after a lot of work! TBF the area that Paul mentions would be a ‘must see’. From Isle sur Tet you can visit les Orgues and also drive up to Villefranch du Conflent and take the Petit train Jaune up to the Spanish border. Or drive and go to the outdoor baths at Thomas le Bains. After that, on the same route, up to Font Romeu (used to play golf in comps sometimes up there). Andorra ain’t too far away then! North of I-sur-Tet, StPaul de Fenouillet drive to Gorges de Gallimus, visit Peyrepretreuse, Qeribus and Tautavel. Our favourite always wa and always will be down from St. Cyprien, Port Vendres, Paullilles, Banyuls, Cebere and Port Bou. Paul would’ve sneaked across the border during Covid on that route or from Jonquera to Banyuls. Swimming in Paullilles is like being in a fish tank. Also it’s an old dynamite works which has been preserved. If you go to Banyuls and like walking, you can take roughly the same route across to the Spanish border, psst the refuge and towards Jonquera. This is the route Airey Neave took down on his escape journey from Colditz. enough?
