  1. My only problem with length of games is some Sky games go on far too long. I don’t know if it would work but I’d like to see a shot clock (60 seconds? 90 seconds?) for the video ref so they aren’t spending 5 minutes going over and over a possible try. On the one hand it speeds things up, on the other hand it means they are sometimes rushing and will make mistakes. Mind you mistakes are made regardless.
  2. Vintage American comics. I only own a handful nowadays - the 3 biggest Marvel comics from the 1960s (1st appearance of Spider-Man, 1st Fantastic Four, 1st Hulk). I also own a single page from Action Comics # 1 (1st Superman appearance 1938).....for a full/complete copy you’re looking at £400k minimum and besides there’s only about 75 copies known to exist so I’m happy with just a page. All kept safely in a bank vault!
  3. But apart from Clarkson, Ellis and Marsh, what have Super League ever done for us? Brought peace?
  4. Matty Marsh also played more than 20 SL games for Hull Kr
  5. Good post overall however I’ll have to pull you up on this point - if you’re referring to Myles Harrison he’s played at least 10 Championship games for York.
  6. Flatman made you believe, he was enthusiastic, talked the club up at every opportunity, we seemed to have a clear aim and ambitions. He was also very approachable. I don’t really know what Clint’s intentions are.
  7. Our record defeat as York Knights I believe. I feel we are missing a good strategy off as well as on the pitch.
  8. The balls in our ballpool have popped lately.....speaking of which do they have a wacky warehouse in Cornwall?
  9. It’s like the creativity and flair of our players is coached out of them. Too many players have come in and looked exciting early on then after a few matches they play to our set structure. It’s boring. The only player who looks to be allowed to play what he sees is Marsh, and surprise surprise most of our breaks and tries come through him. This ‘give it to the first receiver who passes it inside for 5 tackles then a kick’ isn’t working. Thought the decision to leave Jubb on yet again for the full 80 (and I’m not criticising Will, he had a solid game) was woeful. It was crying out for a change of pace - Hingano could’ve gone to 9, even Harris. Instead we just attempted to grind out the win, like usual. We need a change of approach or a change elsewhere.
  10. Finally a game I can get to! Hope we let Hingano play what he sees and we can be a bit more creative. Looking forward to it.
  11. That’s something I was going to ask - there’s no doubt some seats in the Benidorm flats, but otherwise is there much/any seating for regular fans? edit: just seen what they’ve built. Not great in wet weather.
  12. Would be nice for the club to come out officially and tell us the real reason.
  13. Fully agree. I made a similar point before and people asked me for answers, I don’t have them, like everyone else I only have questions. My estimate is we are about 10% up on attendances at the last ground, while nothing to write home about, in today’s climate it’s not too bad. I just wish we’d be a bit more open about it....oh and improve the match day experience but that’s for another thread.
  14. Possibly going off on one a bit here but as I get older I’ve noticed people don’t like to feel they are missing out, be it gigs, bargains, even the whoopsie cabinet at Tesco! As an example, before Castlefords first game of the season (a sellout vs Salford) I noticed how the interest in the match increased over time. A few months before and people thought 6k/7k tops. Then people started thinking they’d miss out (ticket sales no doubt helped by a ticket offer) and by the week of the game it was fever pitch and social media was a real buzz with people asking for spare tickets. On a similar theme I notice a real buzz around clubs when they announce season ticket sales, how many they’ve sold compared to previous years. Here in York, the football club sold as many as last season in just 6 days. It creates interest and people who were maybe on the fence are more likely to buy. It’s why I think it’s a shame in RL some clubs are so secretive about attendances and sales. None more so than at York City Knights, I once figured out how many season tickets we’d sold compared to the previous year and published the huge % increase on the York totalRL forum and was swiftly told by someone from the club to remove the info. There’s the farcical situation with the Knights supposedly not believing the crowds given by the Stadium company so they don’t announce them. I recall the club getting more than 1000 for the first time in a while, I remember breaking 2500 against Toronto which required 2 stands open, 3 stands open for 4000+ against Bradford at Bootham Crescent. It showed the club in good health and I genuinely believe increased attendances further. I admit I’m a stat geek but it’s disappointing that things are kept secretive.
  15. Knights are -20 on the handicap, to say we haven’t won there since 1792 or something that’s a huge handicap. I’ll steer clear as usual!
  16. He’s on 9 for the season now after today.
  17. Sounds like the players weren’t playing playing at times but come the end of the season that could be a crucial win.
  18. Sounds like we’ve used another get out of jail free card today. Important 2 points
  19. Big improvement needed. Sounds like we are missing O’Hagan and a centre - I like what Antrobus brings but feel he’s better in the forwards. For the second half I’d be tempted to swop Glover with Antrobus just to give AJ a bit of support.
  20. My heart sank a bit when the BBC put ‘your’ instead of ‘you’re’ earlier this year in an article. I’ve even offered to proof read match day programmes for a number of sports clubs before they go to print. I know it’s nitpicking but I always think when clubs have errors in their programmes/social media it just gives off a poor vibe. Then again my mum was an English teacher who was fluent in 7 languages so I’m probably raised/wired differently!
  21. Just focusing on the positives first of all: A good triple header. The men’s team while looking shaky in defence scored some good tries and moved it about a bit. I actually thought the support from the crowd was good, sat in the middle of the stand there was plenty of singing from the left as well as the usual right side. Good crowd, seemed busier than normal? Overall an important win and although it wasn’t pretty today, Ford has coached us to an important 4 points in 72 hours. Obviously a lot of room for improvement. Tighten up the defence, get a few bodies back and cement our place in the playoffs. As a club we are doing a lot of things right and there’s a lot of unnoticed hard work going on behind the scenes but we need to come up with some ideas to make match days more of an event - it was the platinum jubilee and we were playing London, thought we missed an opportunity there to set it up as our very own jubilee party, we really need to work on making matches an event. I like having women’s games on before the main event but I’d also love to see singers, bands, cheerleaders, entertainers etc between the matches.
  22. As usual no crowd given at York but looked more than usual, I reckon around 2000.
