  1. I've done the research and found that England last played Finland in 2001 so it certainly has been a while. We also last played Ireland in a competitive fixture right back in 1991.
  2. England have been drawn against Ireland, Finland and Greece in their Nations League group. I know they have been relegated but those teams really do seem like a step down from previous Nations League opponents. I can't remember for the life of me when England last played Finland. The Goose family have some friends in Finland so I might have to go visit them and take the game in while I'm there!
  3. Linklater is a brilliant director. I absolutely love the Before Trilogy, some of my favourite films. A Scanner Darkly is my favourite Philip K. Dick novel and I thought Linklater's adaptation was great as well, one of his most underrated films. Just rewatched School of Rock this afternoon. Always an enjoyable watch.
  4. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/how-derby-opener-sales-compares-9086167 Every Hull derby attendance at the MKM to compare with this year's.
  5. On this day in 1950, the Stasi is established in East Germany.
  6. I've got a serious case of CC at the moment. For the last week or so my cat has been so clingy it is basically stuck to me and won't leave me alone. I've just got up for work like I always do at 4.30am and immediately the cat is on me and won't leave me alone to get ready for work! Annoying!
  7. Great news! The more RL on free to air tv the better. I don't have sky so rarely am able to watch Super League games, so having games on the BBC is very exciting for me!
  8. I just looked Mel Brooks up after reading this. I didn't realise he's still alive! 97 years young! The Producers has always been my favourite Mel Brooks film, and one of my favourite films overall, absolutely love that film!
  9. I treated myself to a couple of new books from the local bookshop today. Both by an author called Peter Ross, the first is about his fascination with graveyards and the second about his love of churches. I too find these topics very interesting and have thoroughly enjoyed the first couple of chapters of A Tomb With a View which I started this evening.
  10. A big day for Beverley Town FC today as the Beavers travel across to Wakefield with 3rd place taking on 1st at a little known ground called Belle Vue! If Beverley win they go top and with 8 league wins in a row we're definitely feeling up for it. I'm sure a large contingent of the Beavers faithful are making the trip across to cheer the lads on, unfortunately I can't be with them as I have work at 5 in the morning. This is 10th division football at its most exciting!
  11. My top 10 subjects I studied in school: 1. Law 2. History 3. Geography 4. English Language 5. Art 6. Biology 7. English Literature 8. Chemistry 9. Physics 10. Government and Politics
  12. I've ordered the under counter freezer, will be here in a couple of days, only cost me £150. I can feel a big trip to farmfoods and Iceland coming on!
  13. I've had an Anglo-South Asian double bill this evening starting with Bend It Like Beckham and following it up with East is East.
  14. I read that as Leicester Geese! I'm not sure my people would be particularly happy being associated with that rabble!
  15. I'd probably start a completely new team from scratch, in a completely new area for the game, and work to build it up. I love Gibraltar and its a British territory with a lot of British culture so people who will be aware of RL even if they don't know masses about it, and a lot of British visitors so people who might fancy taking in a game while on holiday. The population of the territory is also big enough that the team could regularly get a few thousand into games while not so big that there are loads of other sports that could overshadow the RL team. Right across the border there are large Spanish towns as well so that once the team has started to grow it could be marketed and promoted to potential new fans in these places. Eventually there would maybe even be potential for launching a Gibraltar national team and hosting an annual preseason Gibraltar v Spain International or something of that nature.
  16. My top 10 pubs in my hometown of Beverley: 1. The Sun Inn 2. The White Horse Inn aka. Nellie's 3. The Monk's Walk 4. The Windmill Inn 5. The Tiger Inn 6. The Green Dragon 7. The Woolpack 8. The Beaver 9. The Royal Standard 10. The Rose and Crown
  17. On this day in 1893, Thomas Edison finishes construction of the world's first film studio, the Black Maria, in New Jersey.
  18. The petrol station just round the corner from me has these machines as well, they seem to be springing up all over the place. Very good idea!
  19. Over the last year I have been without my tumble dryer and have been using the local laundrette to dry stuff instead. Why haven't I always used this facility?! I just did 2 loads of washing, washed, dried and put away in just over an hour and it only cost me £2 for the drying! I've been contemplating replacing the dryer but I've definitely decided I'm not gonna bother, I'm gonna get a chest freezer instead because my current freezer is tiny.
  20. Also something to do with Britain leaving the EU occurred a few years ago but the flood is far more interesting......
  21. On this day in 1953, the Great North Sea Flood occurred. Approximately 1,800 people were killed in the Netherlands and 300 killed in Britain. 9% of the total farmland of the Netherlands was completely flooded with the loss of nearly 200,000 animals and the total destruction and loss of 10,000 farms, with 10s of thousands more damaged. It was in response to this that the great system of dams called the Delta Works were built in the Netherlands, as well as many of the most well known flood defences in the UK such as the Thames Barrier and the Hull Tidal Barrier.
  22. That would be far too easy and sensible mate!
  23. Edit. Sorry, didn't realise this has already been posted.
