  1. Rather more as a consistent Than a flash in the pan
  2. I've wondered that Came to this conclusion If they won a lot of players would be out of a job because they simply wasn't good enough for super league. They lost knew failure would reduce their large salaries or even get moved on in trimming of the fat, where a team wanting their services would pay more than buying another player from say Swinton or Whitehaven. Problem these player's now have that with a pittance of central funding clubs just can't afford, and if figures for monthly wage bills at Featherstone are to believed.. They really need to cut back. York making some good signings and making the squad stronger, and I'm expecting you to fill Batley boots next season in the top 6.
  3. Thank you My comments as a life long fan of rugby league are an attempt to keep this fabulous game alive, and keep it there for future generations. How it's currently run only favours SL clubs and starves every team below... This has to change
  4. Well the way their running it Isn't very good or the game wouldn't be on its backside would it? And what your solution eh Simply promote a team of historical bottlers to super league
  5. This thread gave me the biggest laugh Starts off been linked to loads of current super players.. Then you get to sunday And it's fear who's gonna be leaving Message to Campbell Clear out the high rollers, get in grafters for the shirt, and accept your never going to super league. And build a team and not try to buy one And get rid of James Ford
  6. Was it such a shock? A team with winning momentum away from home against the yearly bottlers All about perspective
  7. Lockwood retiring apparently I'd go after Davies I know we're desperate for a halfback And I still wouldn't have J Ford Look into Riley Dean at Warrington who seems to have dropped of the planet. I suppose having played there, Dale will have some mates looking for new jobs
  8. They usually ask me, Blind side johnny & Crown Flatter
  9. Central funding could be as low as 15k and not more than 20k Super league players will be on that for personal terms.. That shows its totally inadequate for those outside the Sky Gravey train
  10. Think it's about time Super League and The Championship split Each get their own TV rights Each market their own competition Generate their own financial income Combine championship & League 1 And then split into two, forming the 2 leagues halfway through making 2 competitions, Championship and plate... Playing both down to a Championship Grand Final where the 2 championship team play, and the 2 plate finalists play. Make the Challenge Cup an open draw... None of this super league joining the competition in the final stages. 1895 cup expanded to incorporate more games. Womens grand final to be played at Old Trafford as a curtain raiser 1895 cup to be played as a curtain raiser for the challenge cup final Kids game to be played before the 1895 cup Well that's how I'd run things
  11. Every penny helps, if you simply rely on home income, you can never advance or build, simply tread water and keep afloat, so Featherstone, Wakefield, Bradford coming to your ground doesn't help growing and pushing forward, next season we've an opportunity to strengthen our position thru those teams adding to match day revenue
  12. Just imagine if this lot were in super league.. Some poor team is gonna drop for these fixtures Home Sheffield.. They'll bring 50 Home Newcastle.. They'll bring 20 Away Toulouse.. Wave bye bye to best part of 10k Home London.. They'll bring 30 So one month out of the season 6 months You could lose a bucket full of money You simply can't have poorly supported team in super league Yes someone will say you shouldn't have to rope in away fans to simply survive.. But it does help. Take for instance at the Rams last season we had to close or Southstand because it wasn't cost effective to have it open Midlands Cornwall London Skolars NWC Brought practically no fans Doncaster Oldham Rochdale Hunslet Workington All filled 1 bus each That's it 9 home games Next season it's 8 home games How the fluff are teams supposed to survive 13 home games in the championship next season Featherstone, Wakefield, Bradford, Halifax, York, Batley, Widnes, Doncaster, Whitehaven, Barrow Toulouse or London who practically bring nothing to your ground The their's Sheffield, if it's a school night their massive cannot travel as they have a 9 o'clock curfew Featherstone should be happy they'll be involved in a great battle
  13. 5 teams in the WF postcode And out of them your 3rd best Doesn't add to the weight of been in super league. If Sheffield broke the stigma and break the monopoly of the 2 football teams, it's a big place but in all the years of existence they've not come close to archiving that.. And most probably never will. Big changes over the next couple of years, think the days of players demanding ludicrous amounts of money will also have to change, bet the figures on Featherstones wage bill are starship numbers compared to most championship clubs, Widnes have had a clear out of players on 34k contracts, apparently Halifax are skint and had to let warmsley go to Wakefield to fund them signing O'Brien...
  14. If I'd a choice of any of your players Davies would be the pick, heart of a Lion, hope he's mates with Ferguson cos I'll love Davies at Dewsbury Another missing Koppy Where was he?
  15. You've beaten London twice this season by an aggregate score of 94-28 Didn't help you last night did it the philosophy that you use. I just wonder if London will be burned out after beating Featherstone & Sheffield by pretty impressive scores. Expect Toulouse to win But not ruling London out
  16. Will be interesting to hear Campbell stance, whether he will invest again only to have his pants pulled down at the finishing line, and next season Featherstone won't be the favorites (will that work in your favour as pressure will be off) it will be down to Wakefield to lose it. Why appoint a coach that's won nothing replacing a player who had won loads as a player, for me that's where it started to go wrong, yes great players don't make great coaches, but also mediocre players will possibly be mediocre coaches.. As the case with James Ford, he went from head coach at York to assistant coach at Wakefield, attempted to undermine and over throw Applegarth with his Cuckoo tactics, got despatched at Wakefield once they cottoned on, goes to Featherstone and again does the same Cuckoo tactics to Long, resulting in Long Leaving, leaving Cuckoo Ford to have the whole nest to himself.. We'll that went well Mr Campbell didn't it, I'd fire him, clear out all the deadwood pinching money in the Featherstone team, and start again with more devoted players to the cause, get more local lads playing for pride in the shirt rather than a fat pay packed, the loser's yesterday wasn't the players.. They will simply jog on to the next pay packet, the losers were the fans and volunteers who back the club to the hilt, thru thick and thin and the wider community
  17. On a serious note now Personally for the league it was the best result a chance to lose one of two of the worst supported teams away to super league, Newcastle down also makes the championship a very entertaining league now Wakefield Featherstone Halifax Bradford Batley Widnes all with good away followings for many teams the average gate will rise which is good just at the right time for IMG, the appointment of Ford was wrong, Featherstone had kind of backed themselves into a corner.. Win, you need to rebuild, lose like you did you'll have to have a clear out, the players last night pockets were weighed down with another season of win bonuses, London going to Sheffield and battering them should have been a warning sign.. They'll give Toulouse a game, take a positive from the defeat, the pleasure, financial support and been a rival next season to stop Wakefield running away with the league has been beneficial to the rest of the championship and will make the championship a far better place.. Big picture
  18. Game too far for York tonight 2 quick tries killed you just before halftime. Be proud with your achievements this season, and something to build on for next season
  19. Well I'd move Paul from the Halfback position and try him at Loose Forward, good tackler, good hands, solid performer over the years, we need some zip now in the Halfbacks We shall see
  20. You borrowed that from Sheffield
  21. Well done Halifax must be gutted, makes Liam Finn's job just a little easier Great effort by Swinton Your effort wasn't bad either
  22. Wow as it stands a miracle could happen, exciting last day
