  1. Imagine a world where public transport still wore super smart liveries.
  2. Pan Am flight 845; a few serious injuries but no-one died in this incident. The footage of a 747-100 settling onto its tail is remarkable.
  3. SNCF in its creative era, before the solution to everything was "TGV". https://twitter.com/BB27000/status/1129490998764154882?s=20
  4. Just focus on Ringo in this. His drum-syncing is abysmal.
  5. In his day job Murray Walker worked in advertising, and coined 'Made to make your mouth water' as the slogan for Opal Fruits.
  6. The building used for the exterior of Fawlty Towers after it was destroyed by fire.
  7. Inspired by Padge, pictures of a sail through the Corinth Canal back in 2007, on the ferry from Ancona to Cesme.
  8. There used to be a big station at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
  9. Just a normal sunny Japanese day with some Shinkansen floating past.
  10. Timetables built for when there is traffic don't work when there's not much traffic. Suffice to say I don't see why you'd want to try and publicly shame people who are probably just sticking to their schedule, published or not.
  11. Genuinely excited by this Taking the night train is one of my absolute favourite ways to travel and the loss of Europe's overnight connections in the past 20 years really disheartening. Obviously new carriages won't have the old-school charm of the ones I remember from my childhood (and the unrefurbished ones that were still in service until just a decade or so ago in Italy) but just to see them back on the agenda is fantastic.
  12. Is this some sort of complaint about buses inconveniently running to time?
  13. The wreckage of TWA Flight 800, which was reconstructed for the investigation and then used for NTSB training, is going to be destroyed. They say its use for training was with the stipulation that it would never be used for exhibit or public display. I'll admit it is a somewhat ghoulish sight but they could create a lasting memorial if they'd turned it into something similar to the Museum for the Memory of Ustica in Bologna which is one of the most haunting museums I've ever seen.
  14. There's not too many more beautiful things to emerge from an old warehouse in South Leeds than this.
  15. Here's a great pair of videos of the London-Paris Golden Arrow in its post-war guise. Eurostar might be quicker but the quality of service will never match this.
