Oh aye good memories of ice cream floats, toasted teacakes, hot vimto in toggies,  and a Wimpy knickerbockerglory ( is it all one word?) before going to see a picture at the Ritz with the huge draped curtain in front of the screen and everyone clapped cheered and whistled when the certificate screen came up! Talk about getting a kid excited.

Feeling old now....

The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

Dont forget their ice cream vans....polar pies, cider lollies, ice cream in a sandwich wafer and toni bell mini balls that you could kick about after scooping out the ice cream. the one that came around our way was driven by a guy called Kenny who must of worked for them for donkeys years.:tongue: (sorry Carlisle 1921.....Nostalgia eh.....it isn't what it used to be).:tongue:

Yep,  Ken lived near us his second name was Hodgson and he was married to Lucia  that used to work in Oxford St  Toggys.
