Nottingham Outlaws could perhaps benefit from nomination, with their newly acquired ground to redevelop?  I would very willingly vote for them.

I think anyone can nominate on behalf of clubs, when I looked at it, but you need to provide reasons for why the club deserves it

Ok, so voting is now open until 20th June. I cannot see any nomination for Nottingham Outlaws but there is one for Stanley Rangers so I URGE EVERYONE to get behind this - they are in desperate need of improvements to their facilites.

A bit more about Stanley Rangers attempts for those that are interested:

 

Stanley Sports and Social Club is home to Stanley Rangers ARLFC. The rugby club is 100 years old next year (2019) and we would like to be able to offer Rugby League and other sports and activities to all members of the community. We have been a traditional Rugby League club for many years but would like to move into the next 100 years with foresight and opportunity for all. We currently have teams from under 7s to under 14s & Open Age offering opportunities to children from 5 to 14 and adults. We are currently recruiting for an under 18s team and will organically replenish the U15s & 16s. Stanley Rangers have been successful in developing many Rugby League professionals who have played for club and country.

The club is run by volunteers from the team coaches, managers & fundraisers, to the parents and community members that make the after games food, cut & mark the pitches, work behind the bar and support the teams both home & away. The wider community support the club by joining in with fundraising events and utilising the club facilities for parties, events, galas.

The changing facilities are tired and in need of renovation. We are in the process of renovating the clubhouse with donations and willing hands to offer a nicer place for the community to continue to meet and hold clubs (eg Slimming World), charity events (eg, Hospice Bike Ride final stop & MacMillan Coffee Mornings) and training courses (eg, Emergency First Aid & Touch Line Manager training).

Our new venture is to offer Rugby League to girls teams from 12 upwards – the Stanley Nibs.

Our shower facilities need updating and making usable for both male and female teams of all abilities. We are currently recruiting female players but don't have separate showers and changing facilities to accommodate them.

Girls cannot play in mixed Rugby League teams after the age of 12 and we have girls in our Under 9s & 10s and would like to create a platform for their development in the local area, currently they would have to travel to Leeds and leave the Club that they have played for from a very young age.

If we have separate facilities we can encourage more children into different sports & activities and give children and teenagers somewhere to go away from the streets or the games console.

We have created posters and utilised social media to promote the new girls teams – Stanley Nibs, we have a Qualified Coach & Team Manager and training facilities. We can arrange fixtures for the girls as soon as we have adequate showering and changing facilities for them. We have begun work to raise funds and sponsorship for kit and equipment for the teams. We are promoting the teams within the local schools via word of mouth, posters and flyers – there are 10 local Primary and Secondary schools in the area. We have male players coming from far and wide as they want to play for Stanley Rangers – we want to encourage the girls to to play for Stanley Nibs by giving them facilities they can be proud of.

We want to be able to offer local girls the same opportunities as their male counterparts, Rugby League offers both boys and girls social opportunities, team building, friendship and peer support as well as fitness, nutrition and dietary advice. The girls will be given opportunities to get involved with the younger age groups as coaches and team assistants as the boys currently are. They will be able to offer their female (and male) peers support with self-esteem, teach respect and offer guidance on the game.

The club currently utilises ex-players and contacts within education and sport to come and speak to the teams about issues such as drugs and alcohol, mental health and nutrition looking after and developing the whole child or adult.

We want to make sports accessible to all age groups and abilities at Stanley Sports and Social Club through Stanley Rangers, Stanley Nibs and hopefully encourage other disciplines to the club by having the facilities available & user-friendly for all.

Yeah I don’t know why I bother, I’d have thought with a lot of like minded people on this forum who care about the development of the game would get behind this sort of thing ?. 

Theres enough threads about the struggles with grassroots of the game, this is really a minimum effort to potentially help out a club in need. It’s disappointing if people can’t even be bothered to take 2 minutes to do that
