Why are calls for them to combine and go into the NRL ridiculous, yet you’d like to see them in the Q Cup? I’d like to see League wipe Union off the map in Samoa as a result of this, that would be a great legacy.

Because a combined “pacific” team playing in the NRL would only be and could only be based in NZ for financial reasons whilst a combined pacific team playing in the NSW cup or Queensland cup would be based in the pacific like the silktails and hunters are.

Too strong.

origin is a behemoth holding back the game.

It's strong because it's beautiful. See the crowds. It's a unique concept and it works very well.

What we need is to have something similar with the Int game.

What's "unique" about two teams each representing geographical areas?

The rivalry, that it's an All star game but it's competitive? The level of the games, etc.

Are all the people who go to see Origin stupid?

None of that makes it "unique".

But that’s exactly it mate.

The aussies aren’t interested in the international game because they have origin.

Where and in what sport is a state v state game the biggest game in said sport?

You blame Origin, I blame the rest of the nations for being not as competitive.

England not beating them since 2006 (?), last major trophy in 1972: it's hard to compete with Origin.

If the Int game was competitive enogh, Origin wouldn't be so big.

But in 2022 demonizing it is not the answer.

I’m not demonizing but instead I’m critiquing it.

And why so?

It's got a high level, it's strong, it works.

If we have had something so strong in England, we'd all love it.

The idea the Australians should renounce to something like Origin for the Int game (where...still... even today, they always win trophies and we never beat them) is simply naive and will never happen.

Again it’s holding back the international game however strong it is.

So, again. Are all the people who love Origin and fill stadia...stupid?

We should hate because it's a "strange" concept?

We're probably using different dictionaries here but the notion of two teams representing different geographical areas is not a unique concept, nor is it in any way "strange" or unusual. It's been happening since at least Victorian times (the queen, not the state).

And was born and grow so much thanks to the Int game being not competitive.

Fighting Origin is useless (and pointless: it works, it's a success, games are entertaining).

Maybe, I'm not English mother tongue.

Though I'm led to believe that's not the issue.

They have SOO, we don't. We envy them and hate it.

I'll try this way: Origin is not good because it's a state rivalry?

Ps: in federal countries, state rivalries are typical, see the US university sports.

Are all the people who pack out Eden park for NZ v Argentina  in Union more clever?

are all the people who pack out Ellis park for South Africa v Australia in Union more clever?

are all the people who pack out ANZ stadium for Australia v NZ in Union more clever?

And international RL will play second fiddle to it whilst RU grows stronger everyday.

The events you're mentioning are interesting and work. Just like Origin
