Which is exactly what I said. He can continue a normal life without this treatment, but he needs it to continue as a Championship RL player. That's why he's on a longer non-essential NHS waiting list, not one for immediate treatment.

They're happy to do the op, they just aren't going to prioritise it over anyone else with non-essential ops.

That's appalling, as is trying to shift the blame to the NHS. I'm amazed it is not a requirement for professional clubs to have insurance in place.
