WILLIE PETERS was pleased to see his Hull KR side find a way to win at Magic Weekend when the going got tough.
Their derby with Hull FC was 12-12 heading into the final 15 minutes before the Robins pulled away to win 26-12.
With Dean Hadley and Tom Amone the latest middle men absent through injury, coach Peters took pride in their resilience.
“We knew in terms of personnel in the middle we needed depth and we had to move people around like Karl Lawton, who did an outstanding job,” said Peters.
“When it got to twelve-all I thought the crowd were amazing and we needed that and we found a way to win.”
“We needed to find a way to win today and grind out a win. No doubt our attack wasn’t fluent but when it got tricky and tough the players leant into it and got the job done.
“I learnt a lot about the players’ character today and they got their opportunity and took it.
“There may be a couple of players back next week but not many. We need to get our recovery right and train ahead of Wakefield next (Saturday).
“We did the right things today and pulled together for a hard-fought win.”
