HULL KR head coach Willie Peters thought his side played well but made hard work of their 22-8 victory over Leigh Leopards by putting themselves under pressure.
However, he was in praise of some of his leadership group in what was a tough encounter.
“I thought we started well and dominated,” said Peters, “but we made it hard for ourselves despite defending well and we put pressure on ourselves.
“The conditions were hot but both teams are better than what they produced tonight.
“I thought Tyrone (May) was outstanding tonight and certainly a key player for us. Mikey (Lewis) had his moments but our last plays have to improve.
“(Karl) Lawton did a good job at nine before going in the centres and Jai Whitbread ran the ball well and was hard to handle.”
Next up on Friday is a trip to league leaders Leeds Rhinos, who hammered the Robins in Vegas.
That has been touched upon but put to bed according to Peters, who said: “We were not proud of our performance in Vegas.
“We have had our say about it and we have said all that we have to say. It hurt from the review but we have left it at that.
“We have to step up as Leeds are the form team this season.”
Joe Burgess left the field early in the second half holding his wrist, but the issue isn’t thought to be too bad by his coach.
Jez Litten, who missed the game through a ligament injury, should be back next week, as will Oliver Gildart who was under HIA protocols.
