ST HELENS coach Paul Rowley admitted his side’s scrappy 38-6 win over Huddersfield Giants gave him little pleasure.
“It’s always hard in games like this, but you should go sing your song at the end and always enjoy a good victory,” he said.
“There were things that were good, individuals that were good, some individual performances out there, but collectively, it was probably the most frustrating game of the year for me. I didn’t enjoy it at all.
“I’ve got to try and put a smile on, but always be honest. There were some really ugly parts from us in that game that really gifted Huddersfield a lot of opportunities to probably put us to the sword a little bit.
“The positives are that we dug in and found a way to keep them away from our line after giving away so much territory and possession, but it was ugly.
“I want to play this game a certain way, and we’re not playing that way. We need to express ourselves in a different manner and play smarter.
“The players are better than what they showed today; they know that, and I know that. We’ll keep working hard.”
