Two loan signings and three new fixture dates for Oldham

OLDHAM will hope to show their Sunday best in the run-in to the play-offs, having moved three of their upcoming fixtures from original Friday dates.

The switches come following confirmation that the Roughyeds will play all their remaining home games at Boundary Park, ending a prolonged dispute with landlords Oldham Athletic Football Club which saw them spend the first three months of the season playing out of Bower Fold in Stalybridge.

Ties with Sheffield Eagles, London Broncos and Salford will be played on August 9, 16 and 23 respectively, each with 3pm kick-offs.

“The changes have been made following feedback from supporters and discussions with Oldham Athletic, following the release of the EFL fixtures,” the Roughyeds explained.

The clash with runaway leaders London is particularly enticing as Oldham, despite the disrupted season, are on a 13-match league winning run going into this Sunday’s home game with Halifax Panthers.

Ahead of facing Fax, prop Tom McKinney and Dan Regan have been signed on loan from Warrington Wolves.

McKinney returns for the rest of the season having made four appearances in a prior spell, while Regan has joined for a month.

In turn, Warrington have recalled hooker Ben Hartill from his loan.

Head coach Alan Kilshaw said: “We’re delighted to welcome back Tom and also give Dan an opportunity to play some first grade.

“We still have a fair chunk of league games to go, so making sure that we have depth and competition for all places is vital as we look to maintain our momentum during the back end of the season.”

Kilshaw’s side are targeting a top-two finish, which would ensure a bye in the first week of the new ten-team play-offs.

After last Friday’s 20-14 win at Batley Bulldogs, Kilshaw said: “In those 13 wins there have been some big scores, some good results and some gritty wins like this.

“Games like this will help us at the back end of the year, and we’ve got a lot of improvement in us.”
