New Zealand name Anzac Test squad

New Zealand have named their squad to face Australia in this Friday’s Anzac Test match, which is to be played at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.

In contrast to the Kangaroos, who have named a squad packed with experience, the Kiwis have gone for six rookies, including former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats star Isaac John, who now plays for Penrith Panthers and former Hull FC star Sam Moa, who now plays for Sydney Roosters and who played for Tonga in the World Cup. Coach Stephen Kearney has kept his promise and has not selected Sonny Bill Williams.

The New Zealand squad: Gerard Beale (St George Illawarra Dragons), Adam Blair (Wests Tigers), Jesse Bromwich (Melbourne Storm), Kenny Bronwich (Melbourne Storm), Greg Eastwood (Canterbury Bulldogs), Tohu Harris (Melbourne Storm), Siliva Havili (NZ Warriors), Ben Henry (NZ Warriors), Peta Hiku (Manly Sea Eagles), Isaac John (Penrith Panthers), Shaun Johnson (NZ Warriors), Simon Mannering (NZ Warriors), Sam Moa (Sydney Roosters), Jason Nightingale (St George-Illawarra Dragons), Kevin Proctor (Melbourne Storm), Martin Taupau (Wests Tigers), Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (Sydney Roosters), Dean Whare (Penrith Panthers).
