MATT PEET praised his rising star Taylor Kerr for an excellent display at hooker in Wigan Warriors’ 34-6 victory at Bradford Bulls.
The 20-year-old forward move to nine in place of the suspended Brad O’Neill and wrapped up the win by scoring Wigan’s final try.
“I thought Taylor deserved the honour of man of the match,” said Warriors coach Peet.
“He’s certainly not played 80 minutes for us before and to play 80 minutes at nine, as assuredly as he did, was great for him.
“We are going to need these lads (in the future).”
Peet was glad to see his Warriors adapt to playing in the narrow confines of Odsal as they secured their eleventh straight league win.
“It’s a game I’ve been mindful of all season as we knew that this would be a tough place to come,” he added.
“So I’m just glad to get such a professional job done against a good team.
“It’s the same for both teams but Bradford do it the way they want to play and you are not going to get the space and time that you get elsewhere, although I’m not saying that gives Bradford a home advantage.
“Bradford attack a bit differently to other teams and never stopped asking questions, so we had to be switched on all the time.”
Wigan have now moved level with Leeds Rhinos, who slipped up against Leigh Leopards on Friday, in the race for the League Leaders’ Shield, although remain in second place on points difference.
“You can’t miss the other results (this weekend) but we try to concentrate on ourselves,” said Peet.
