TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE must learn to “build games” according to coach Sylvain Houles.
Despite an admirable rally, Toulouse gave themselves too much to do from 30-0 down as they lost 48-24 at home to Leeds Rhinos.
“We were not great in the first half,” admitted Houles.
“The difference between the teams was in the execution by us in the first half.
“They linked together better than us and created four tries from good kicking, which is a pity because we came back well to get to within six points.
“We changed the dynamic of the match and got close but conceded a cheap penalty which they scored from which changed the situation.
“Leeds are a top-six club, top of the table at the moment, so they are good but we need to start better to gain an advantage rather than play catch-up in games.
“We have the talent to improve but we need to respect the top-six teams and learn to build and construct games like we did last weekend at Huddersfield.
“We are building for the future here. We need to learn how to play Super League rugby and that will come with experience.
“The players are young in Super League experience but it’s natural that we learn and improve.”
