WILLIE PETERS was delighted to retain the Clive Sullivan Trophy with Hull KR’s 24-6 victory over rivals Hull FC.
The Robins’ seventh successive derby success saw them retain the prize, now to be awarded to the winner of each Good Friday contest between the two clubs.
It was also the 250th competitive Hull derby, with this Hull KR’s 116th victory (Hull FC have won 124, with ten draws).
“We spoke about it being the 250th, and it’s nice to win that trophy again,” said coach Peters.
“Clive Sullivan is a legend of the game and we don’t take winning that trophy lightly. Any trophy we go after we want to win and are really proud of.
“It was a typical derby. I’m really pleased we got the result.
“The second half we didn’t start the way we wanted to but once we started sticking to the plan we came through.
“The late tries come from what we did throughout the game. We had good field position for most of it.
“At the end of the day I would have been happy with 10-6 but I’m glad to get those extra points.”
Asked which performances he was most pleased with, Peters replied: “I was happy with the forwards, and happy with Jack (Broadbent).
“The two middles started it well, Jesse (Sauaso Sue) and Tom (Amone). Jez (Litten) brought some spark when back on, and Mini (Elliot Minchella) had moments there, too.”
