WILLIE PETERS has revealed that the RFL believed that Junior Nsemba “didn’t add” to the tackle that saw Hull KR hooker Bill Leyland dumped on his head during the Challenge Cup Final.
Wigan Warriors forward Sam Walters was given a red card and then a seven-match ban for a dangerous throw, but Walters was involved in the tackle with Nsemba, with the latter not being cited by the Disciplinary Match Review Panel in the aftermath.
Peters spoke out strongly against the decision not to ban Nsemba last week, stating that he would ask the governing body why the back-rower wasn’t banned also.
Now the KR boss has explained their reasoning.
“They didn’t feel he added to that tackle, they said it was all Sam Walters which I disagree with,” Peters said.
“It was two guys in that tackle, there was no intention to throw him onto his neck but it was down to two players.
“I think it was wrong actually to put it all on Sam Walters. To say that he was the sole reason as to why the tackle ended up like that, I disagree with.”
