Hi everyone,

Please could I remind Oldham fans of the upcoming friendly against the Lions. And if any of you would like to take advantage of our pie, pies & chips plus pre-match build-up you'd be most welcome! Also, after the game you'll be able to get the views of both coaches.

See below from our web-site :-

Oldham Friendly 1st Feb
1st February 2015

The Lions will face Oldham at Park Lane in a friendly on Sunday 1st February 2015, kick-off 3pm.

Admission is reduced to £10 Adults; £5 Concessions; Under 16s £1.

For an extra £12.50 please join us in the LIONS' SUITE for pie, chips & peas, together with pre-match entertainment and up to date club information provided by our jester-in-chief, John "Spelly" Spellman!

There will be a pre-match interview with Les Holliday, as well as interviews with current Swinton players. Food is served at 1.15pm.

After the game re-join us for John Duffy's post-match analysis and the man-of-the-match presentation. (Plus hopefully the views of the Oldham coach).

Email us on abbi.roddy@swintonlionsrlfc.com to book your place(s), then simply pay at the turnstile and you'll be allocated a diner's wrist band.

Thanks, Steve (Swinton Lions director)

Yeah bit worrying.....the last report on the official web site about kane daniels was around 8th Jan, over a fortnight ago.

There's been a couple of articles in the Chron but CH should be banging the drum marketing now, interviewing new players and hyping everything up for the new season.

Perhaps even allaying fears about Companies House!

It's clear from this forum that there's lots to think about at Oldham at the moment, but all I know is that your name is famous in the history of Rugby League.

I won't be presumptuous as to get involved in the politics, but I'm sure your players on the field would greatly appreciate your support. So if you're free on 1st Feb then please come down to Sedgley Park. We've always had good friendly banter with Oldham fans & you will be very welcome.

Our history goes back a long way, weren't Swinton your first opponents at Watersheddings?

All the best for the future. RL needs Oldham.

seeing as the season doesn't kick off till the end of feb what does everyone think to this little pre season idea..

oldham, rochdale & swinton compete in a pre season "greater manchester cup"

add alittle spice to pre season and a trophy at the end of it

OLDHAM RLFC

the 8TH most successful team in british RL

I think that would be a great idea as a lead in to the season rather than playing friendlies.

My fear for the coming season is that with such a small squad we cannot afford many injuries like we have had in the past, and not running an under 20's team we have nothing to fall back on other than rely on Huddersfield to supply players to us.

Please come and join us (including Les Holliday) at the pre-match shindig Steve mentioned earlier in this thread.

You might even see Spelly in a suit and tie!

I've sorted out a "normal" quiz, a picture quiz, there'll be stand-up bingo, a raffle, and a bit of nosh as well!

See you next Sunday I hope!

Spelly.

"--- and then on the eighth day, God created Rugby League."

Daily, my intense dislike of the Pinks, Rugby Yawnion, Manchester United, and far-right politics, grows ever larger, and will continue to do so forever more!

Question! What's the connection between Rugby League and Rugby Yawnion? Answer! There isn't one!

My girl-friend asked "If you had to choose between me and Swinton who would it be?" I replied "You know the answer to that one without even asking!"

Amazing how often clubs with a small playing squad pick up a shed load of injuries, while those with larger ones don't. I thought, at the time it was announced, that a smaller squad is a bad idea and still do. This is a mistake that could come back to bite us.
