  2. They could have used two weekends, one with Doncaster under-strength and one Barrow under-strength. It wasn't a case of Doncaster being the good guys. Players on both sides would have cancelled plans but the midweek game offered least disruption and allowed fans to boost the attendances at the CCF and Magic Weekend where the whole game benefits. It was Doncaster who suggested the dates and Barrow went along with Doncaster's request to play at home first due to pitch maintenance and football fixtures later in the year. It was all very amicable and the two clubs get on very well.
  3. This was the extra fixture due to the demise of Featherstone and announced a few weeks after the fixtures were released. The only two available weekends when Barrow and Doncaster weren't playing was the Challenge Cup Final weekend and the Magic Weekend. Two Barrow players have arranged a stag weekend as they were told in December that they could have a week off around Magic weekend and similarly all the Doncaster players had made arrangements around the Challenge Cup Final weekend having been told they could have a week off. Both clubs therefore decided to go midweek.
  4. I know the referee. He's been told there is an RFL meeting on Wednesday to let him know. It's his first professional game so he's keen for it to go ahead.
  5. To be fair about the timing we announced the passing of Tommy Dawes immediately and quickly received a phone call from the family upset that some family members didn't know. Finding out that a family member has passed away on Facebook is not something we wanted. We took the post down and re-posted when the family gave permission. From that we have made a decision not to post too early for these things and we only posted when we saw tributes from other sources and when the appropriate person to post was available. Ray will be sadly missed by everyone at the club and further afield.
  6. Due to the change in venue we have been told there is no streaming unfortunately.
  7. Manchester Swinton Lionesses 8 Barrow Raiders 42 Pleasantly surprised how strong the Raiders were and how sharp they were with their first choice team on the field. Plenty of rotation to give some of the newly formed u19 players some game time opportunity was an added bonus. Plenty of good signs from Swinton too who never gave in, and despite the score line looked as though they will be challenging near the top of the Championship.

  10. If possible the clubs were paired with the next club round the grading circle assuming that they hadn't been paired with that club as one of the two wild card picks. After that it was a case of whoever was left pairing up including Featherstone's 2 extra teams.

  12. It was agreed that all Super League clubs will be only taking travel expenses in round 3 from the gate receipts. There has been no compensation for playing a day earlier than Barrow wanted although Betfred have sponsored the match ball for £1,000 which was good of them. All Championship clubs are grateful for the round 3 gesture from Super League that was agreed quite a long time ago. On the downside for finance Salford were liquidated and Featherstone are in administration leaving a trail of rugby related debts (players and clubs). The payment of those debts have come from the distribution of Championship funds with only London unaffected. Salford came 2nd and Featherstone 3rd in the IMG gradings with Barrow 4th. Funding for 2026 is based on your IMG position with roughly £6k per position. Barrow thought they would move up to 2nd but the funding for the 2nd and 3rd placed teams has been removed to pay those debts. Part of the reason for Featherstone's entry refusal was that they weren't prepared to service those rugby debts. So every Championship club is roughly £12k worse off except London who were in position 1 of the IMG rankings.
