Unfortunately, that would be pointless.

If its a RL love in at a new venue for the sake of it, no. Tell us the vision RFL, or clubs.....whats the why behind the what? Sell us the vision. Is it to go consistently, to build an appetite for Rugby League? Promote player pathways into certain SL clubs, establish a SL club? Or is it just for the sake of going? It matters.

Working in London and travelling from Leeds frequently over the last 3/4 years weekly has given me a new appreciation and insight into the difficulties facing a club just branded 'London.' I know it will have been talked about and discussed to death. However, no wonder London have never managed to galvanise a larger committed crowd. Broncos, find your community and stay there and build, but if Super League/NRL are serious about London being a strong force - it needs a strategy for North, South, East and West London clubs to have a platform to achieve super league/NRL status as clubs. Football tells us that. The distances and tube commutes are what Wire v Hull (kr/fc) complain about on a Thursday night!

North Wales Crusaders (Merged Threads)
The British Lion replied to FearNothing's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
You're welcome - i grew up watching a few of the Welsh greats of yesteryear lace their boots for the Wire. I'm disappointed to see how RL wasted their Welsh connection to be honest. Do you feel being based in Colwyn Bay is the best place for North Wales? Im interested to know what the gold standard would be, say, if NRL came in, and said yes, Wales is a place for investment. To develop club sides and regalvanise a Welsh international team from the basis of having a Welsh club or two, in the top tier. -

I really sympahtise with Crusaders. Back when they launched, there was a strategy - albeit short lived - for them to be a club for Welsh players to realise their Super League ambitions. Bad ownership followed, but again, the RFL abandoned the concept at the first difficult hurdle. Its so frustrating to watch this club struggle on. Wales should be a key strategy of 2 clubs, North and South, in the medium to long term to have 2 top flight clubs, alongside the French. Im really hoping to see the RFL and NRL land these things for the better of the game. Question to the Crusader fans, or any Welsh - whats the answer for long term success? -
I say this with the best possible intention. Win, lose, or draw, I would have never gone to this game (as a wire fan) due to the severe lack of fans inside the stadium to create an event. I honestly thing Hudds need to regather in the championship - and even then, I dont see the evidence of the town being invested in supporting the club. I know others may be different to me, but its just not a game in the calendar i ever think (even now that i live in Leeds) i must go to that. Its bad times for Huddersfield. I dont feel they are a future SL team.

Sorry, not sure what you're getting at?

Since when did NZ Warriors get so big?
The British Lion replied to The Daddy's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
35,000 - thats incredible and must be recognised and applauded! How can we help Catalans and Toulouse realise the same dream......and how could this have been Toronto too. I dont say this with sarcasm. The opportunity was there for Toronto, and for the French, it exists. Still. Right now. But if history is anything to go by, im hoping for not a repeat of #makethem62greatagain club owners. -
That Wigan kit for Paris is awful. Build brand and stick with your home jersey!

So many to choose from, and which others have illuded to. - Pure lack of forward planning International fixtures (and them always being at the end of a season). - Demise of Welsh Rugby League as the Super League era took off. No strategy (as with anything it seems) - The U Turn of development officers across England, Scotland and Wales by the RFL. - SL Club owners being in control of game wide decision making.

NRL eye SL takeover
The British Lion replied to The 4 of Us's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Why in RL do we always go to the most negative outcomes. Yes, be cautious, but optimistic. I think the NRL's interest in the UK and European game is the best news in ages. Its going to take some breaking of the Camels back to get this over the line. I.e. club chairmen self interest, however, as sterling a job as theyve done this far to keep the game at the point it is, we will never realise the potential of RL the way the Southern Hemisphere is enjoying the growth. When i first started watching the game, and into my teenage years. Watching the rise of Wales, and even France beating England in the round robin, GB series frequently against the Aussies with marginal losses, I never thought RL would be as dry and unimpressive at International level, and SL as it has been for a long time. This year Im enjoying the rise of York, Toulouse and a resurgent Bradford to an extent. What the game really needs is a brave, and experienced set of hands to expand and consolidate the game domestically and internationally. Abdo and Vlandys have proven themselves. And yes, whilst the sporting landscape is vastly different to UK and Europe, I have higher hope in them than I do a re-instated/sacked Nigel Wood and the pie and pea brigade at Batley or wherever it was. ....Keep doing the same thing, and expect the same results. Chairmen - of all clubs, thank you so much. But now is the time to relinquish your ownership. Your holding the game back. And finally before that - yes, lets see the goals and points from the partnership conversations first. Stay the same as now - 20 years from now, and beyond we will still be scratching around as England for international games, and no further on in skills development, with the same m62 corridor of teams, maybe with some changes. Be brave and change - at least you release the potential to go further. -
NRL eye SL takeover

I really liked the Abdo interview with Carney. While Abdo gave nothing away, as you'd expect, I can't help feel this can only be positive for RL in UK and Europe. Negatives for me (at an uneducated stance) is that SL Chairmen as stakeholders wanting to maintain a majority control. Unfortunately - this will always hold the game back to its current situation. From the NRL, id love to hear what thier ambitions are re a whole game approach, the top tier (SL) and their thoughts around France and beyond. Then, the most important one - a long term international calendar that looks to replicate the Pacific influence on the international game. I for one dont care about heritage players for Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France etc...so long as there is a long term plan for player pathways and future SL/NRL Europe clubs going forwards. But all the above may feel a threat to current SL chairmen. -
Odds for England - Mens RLWC
The British Lion replied to The Partisan's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
It would have to take a 'very bad day' for England to beat Australia in the final as it stands at the moment. The 2017 final is as close as weve ever been. The coaching in SL is miles behind the NRL - and we saw that evidently in the Ashes series.
