Seems we are all hearing the same rumours. I'd also add that Myler and Thirkill were allegedly not hot on Arthur but once again Carty vouched for his ability. Obviously, we can't be sure they are true, but if they are it explains a lot.

Actually, re-reading the message i got about the rumours. 4 staff members are not happy about stuff that's been going on. Two of them report to Thirkill.
