  1. Terrific second half performance from the lads today. I think we looked to be fitter than Keighley at the end. We seemed to be on the way to earning a last minute draw until that loose pass went to an opponent. Fair play to their lad for going the length of the field. Carry on like that and we should be in for a very interesting season. It was the converted try just before half time that did the damage. Incidentally both kickers did really well today. Neither of them looked like missing.
  2. Charlie was a really class loose forward. I remember Hornets playing Keighley away in the Challenge Cup in the 1970’s. Hornets won comfortably but Charlie was outstanding for Keighley. I said to my mate “ That loose forward looks a good player, I wouldn’t mind signing him. “ About 2 or 3 weeks later we signed him. He always gave 100% and was a real grafter. Tganks for the memories Charlie, you were a good ‘un.
  3. You need changes in the boardroom if the football club is ever to move forward. Otherwise it’s just money down the drain. But I suppose you already know that after the success story of the last three seasons.
  4. That’s good news, sounds like Else didn’t have a broken arm after all.
  5. I’ve always liked him. I thought he was good at Swinton, he always gave us a hard time.
  6. Same when Rangi Chase broke his arm. It looked to be a nothing incident.
  7. I believe Else has a broken arm. Another key player out along with Ridyard and McNally. If it wasn’t for the bad luck we wouldn’t have any luck at all.
  8. It looks like Christmas came early this year.
  9. We beat ourselves really. We had them rocking after an error free start but got dragged into a more attritional sort of game. The twenty minutes before half time killed us. Too many easy penalties and too many wrong choices with the ball, especially the decision not to take the two bang in front of goal. I could have back heeled that one over. I don’t think we “ got to the kick , once in that period. The game was going to be hard to pull back from the half time score. What was encouraging was the way we stuck at it and came back in the second half. We deserved a draw I thought but you don’t always get what you deserve. We played some good rugby with the ball in hand. The length of the field try was worth the price of admission alone. I thought we missed the experience of Ridyard and McNally. If Ridyard had have been playing he would have kicked that goal at the end, it was a relatively easy kick for a right footer.
  10. Gauge - Hero to Zero in no time at all. At least the scales have fallen from some of the Dale fans eyes now. The snidey way he treated Hornets told me all I needed to know about his character.
  11. The ref was the best “player “ on the pitch. The game was a bit turgid, lots of basic errors, neither team really got going for any length of time.
  12. I’m really pleased Wigan won, it’s great for British Rugby League, but that “ try “ was never a try. The ball never touched the line. In my opinion of course. I also thought there was a forward pass in one of the earlier tries but it was only a little one and you see those all the time. Shame about the French ‘“ try “ it would have been a worthy match winner.
