Wakefield Trinity coach Daryl Powell wasn’t getting carried away by the excitement of his side’s thrilling victory over bottom club Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, when a last-gasp Josh Rourke intercept clinched the points.
After the game, he said: “It’s a win, but not an enjoyable one. We started great, and then we lost control of the game a little bit and conceded a couple of soft tries.
“We did well to get back into it, but we were never that great to be honest. We were too loose.
“Then the end was mad. The drop-goal from Jack (Sinfield) was an unconventional strike but brave. I thought the drop-goal from Olly Russell had fallen short at first. Then he gives us the intercept, with Rourkey’s instinct picking that off.
“It’s two points, but we have to improve on that. We’ve got too many players who are not playing with a great deal of confidence and we’ve got to try and get that right. If we do get that right, we’ll be in a good place.”
