RYAN CARR is determined not to let the issues that have plagued Castleford Tigers in 2026, do so in 2027 as well.
Castleford have used 37 different players already this season, having wheeled and dealed with players coming in permanently – Jack Brown, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, Tyler Dupree and George Hirst – or on loan for spells.
Carr is keen to have a settled squad before the start of the 2027 season.
“They are really trying, everyone is trying really hard,” Carr said after the Tigers’ remarkable 36-34 win over Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.
“We’ve got four or five players in our 21-man squad that have come in during the year.
“We have had to recruit on the run and we have had people leaving on the run as well.
“Leeds are at the end of a three-year recruitment cycle so they are a consistent team with a consistent roster and good depth.
“That’s probably why they are where they are and why we are where we are.
“We are working hard to fix that. We are working hard in the background on that so hopefully we won’t be in this position next year, bringing in players at Round 10.
“That’s unreasonable and it’s a credit to the players that we have brought in that they have slotted in like they have.”
