BRADFORD BULLS coach Kurt Haggerty has made clear how disappointed he would be if his side were to finish the season bottom.
While they acquitted themselves well on their return to Super League, a run of nine defeats in ten has seen them slide down the table.
A 34-6 home defeat to Wigan Warriors, followed shortly afterwards by Huddersfield Giants’ victory at Toulouse Olympique, saw them hit last place for the first time all season.
“I’d be very disappointed,” said Haggerty on the prospect of finishing there.
“I don’t want that label as I think we’ve worked far too hard, no matter who has played in a Bulls shirt.”
Bradford had players back from injury for the Wigan game but some were still struggling.
Haggerty said: “Waqa Blake was playing on one leg so I won’t be over-critical that he got some things wrong systematically.
“But he put his hand up to play when we needed him and to put a shirt on tonight was good enough.
“Joe Mellor was a touch-and-go and we had to see how he got through the warm-up but luckily he played.
“You’ve got to give Wigan credit – they are an incredible team with probably one of the best defences in the competition and to break them down, at the best of times, is very difficult.
“I’m disappointed that we have lost as I thought we’d done a lot of good things in the game but we were better than last week.
“We were quite good with the ball but I thought we lost a lot of ‘big moments’ which ultimately lost us the game.
“Those moments you can understand – you can’t accept them but you can understand and there were too many of them.”
