  1. What and where? Millions wasted would only be relevent if a loss and not deemed a success. First point yet to be confirmed, second point appears that annecdotal evidence suggests it has been a success, whatever measure you use. Even if it loses a dollar or a million, that looks like a good investment to me.
  2. Precisely what a Union journalist would say, and it hasn’t harmed them. Perhaps a lesson for the future?!
  3. If this LA residents views are typical, RL could have a bright future over there, even if just one offs in Vegas. https://x.com/tsingletonsays/status/1764215174549114993?s=61&t=FO94UTyPanbSnBhdjN6hQg
  4. Not sure what the top tier holds (looks closed) but bottom two close to full! https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/17005F18C4B1353A?utm_source=nrl_undefined&utm_medium=web_undefined
  5. Just seen on X. A great sponsor. Pitty couldn’t have got that sealed before the signed on design on away kit.
  6. They have these really nice shops with carpets and fancy lights, where they can give you free cash if you give them your house and keys to your car, if you need some more.
  7. Thought as much on first sight. First game at home, new era etc etc, what the issue doe you think?
  8. If he just spoke rather than shouted every word it would help some.
  9. I’d do it all again! Not sure my wife would allow it though.
  10. I’ve had the same op 6 months ago after losing my ACL aged 19 and then playing on for 10 years. My knee “looked like an 80 year old” when I turned 40 and I now have pain in most joints. I have used Naproxen on prescription to cope before op, and a mix of painkillers post op. Coming off them wasn’t pleasant and a difficult part of the process. I’ve needed to take a couple of painkillers before going to gym earlier today, although I only do so if it becomes too much. Which is why when I’ve seen the debate this week about how the sport has gone soft because it’s trying to protect players welfare, I just roll my eyes and wonder if those who are doing the winging, have ever actually pulled boots on. I’ve only ever played amateur and me and my associates in just one team have had at least 3 knee replacements between us. It’s a tough tough sport. Just imagine having to do it as a job and putting your body under all that strain. It’s no surprise to me so many have to take painkillers to get through the day. As for the BBC publishing the story, although the timing is a bit iffy, the content is not. The sport needs to deal with it. Can’t complain about wanting to be a big sport and having stories published like this.
  11. I can feel a Maurice Lindsay esqe positives/negatives of a merger (of the threads) debate coming on.
  12. There was reference a day or twk ago to 15,000 tickets sold. Capacity is circa 17,000
  13. 73,000 vs 76,699 Thought I was being optimistic. A very good turn out all around.looks like nearly every game bar Catalan was even more. Round 2 guesstimates?
  14. I was just getting ready to post “why another miserable git” thread. Good isn’t it!
  15. Compared to what? The All Golds tour 1908, last season’s Grand Final, the RU Premiership, Pennine League?
  16. They’ve spelled “corn’t” wrong but what a change.
  17. I’ve read that Warriors have been resistant to NZ2 but surely now with the increased profile they have worked hard to build, it’s time to kick on. Suspect they’ll be guaranteed a sell out at a bigger venue than the 30,000 of their home grounds for their 2 derby fixtures in any event. NZRU will be looking over it’s shoulder.
  18. The RFL sort out insurance for the whole game. They are being sued by former professionals which has caused the whole issue in the first place. Being pro/amateur won’t make any difference to the risk of head injury and consequences of that. If anything, the risk in pro game is substatially greater due to the all sorts of issues which increase the strength of collisions etc. The RFL are most definitely under insurer pressure to do what they have. And other sports with similar challenges will be in the same position. It’s been suggested that UFC and the like are more violent. Yes they are but less so than just 10 years ago, with more frequent referee interventions, but the fights, which aren’t 80 mins long, are also much less often, and they are not doing it 40 times a season for 15 years. RL is doing what is neccessary to ensure it has a healthier future. Pun intended.
  19. No I didn’t https://www.totalrl.com/rugby-league-touch-judge-reveals-the-sport-was-10-days-away-from-not-being-in-existence-due-to-insurance/ https://www.totalrl.com/i-dont-think-fans-understand-the-seriousness-in-terms-of-having-a-sport-that-can-be-insured-professor-responds-to-criticism-of-rugby-leagues-new-tackle-height-trial/
  20. Thereby distinguishing between non-deliberate and deliberate. Players will learn the consequences of both.
  21. Purlease. From what understand the game was told “Sort it or else” on the eve of the season by insurers. It’s sorting it by making sure deliberate attacks to the head are appropriately dealt with. It the sport didn’t, it wouldn’t be taking place this weekend. The sport has always been 50% more aggressive that it ever needed to be, which is why social RL has never been a big thing until relatively recently. The sport will be fine and better for it. Athletes knocking seven bells out of the opponents without the need to main each other.
