  1. Perhaps one view of it would be that if the London viewing of RL on SKY is large, say 10-15% of the total then perhaps that percentage of SKY revenue should go to Quins. That would transform their finances and maybe persuade Mr Hughes to stay if he doesn't have to dig in his pocket every year. The remaining % of the SKY money could then be shared out between the other 13 clubs on an equal basis. If the SKY money from the London area is disproportionally high then surely there's a case that Quins should benefit from the viewers "they" bring to the game? Plenty arguments against but it would solve Quins financial problems overnight!
  2. Watts from HKR will be in there. There's also Marsh & Charnley from Wigan too!
  3. Trouble is Myler isn't good enough for the Four Nations but could be included. Tomkins is playing full back and Eastmond went off injured again in the game V Crusaders. His fitness must be in doubt. Myler could come into the reackoning because of these two factors. Mind you, McNamara is coach so anything may happen and probably will.
  4. For starters, Bridge will play at Wembley with Riley to fb and Mathers missing out. Briers at 6 with Monaghan to 9 and Clarke off the bench. Higham not included. That's my punt anyway!
  5. I was not wearing blinkers! The Wigan absentees are known to me as a Wigan supporter, the HKR ones are not. I am aware of Walker, Webster, Welham & Galea and that's it. I don't think for a minute that those are HKR's only injured players, I'm just not aware of who they are. The list of names I put there was for info not some declaration or implication of Wigan's problem being far greater compared to that of HKR who have none!
  6. Rumours are that he'll play off the bench. Wigan players out, Phelps, Roberts? Gleeson, Carmont, Fielden, Prescott, McIlorum, O'Carroll, Bailey, Mossop & Pryce dropped. If HKR can't win this they'll never beat Wigan! Should Wigan lose then they will have to beat Bradford to get the League Leaders Shield.
  7. Wigan's is a better squad but with up to 10 players missing it could be very tight. With my Wigan tinted glasses on it has to be Wigan by 8 points.
  8. Kath Hetherington must be the worst Chairperson in the whole of Super League. So who will lose his place Tom Briscoe? Wouldn't surprise me in the least with that BOD and coach at HullFC.
  9. Andy Wilson knows the score with SL as do most of us. His main point is that Widnes are going in SL come 2012, which they are. The other matter re Wakefield is also correct that at the moment they are the most vulnerable. Salford won't go as the new stadium would go to Sale RU thereby handing the whole Manc conurbation over to Union. The RFL will never let Salford or Rugby League down like that. Castleford's position is vulnerable too but they have a better Rugby League base in their town rather than Wakefield do. Wakey might be the most vulnerable but it is not a cert yet that it will be them to go down.
  10. I heard Offiah say this and asked the same question on the Wigan RLFans board. The general view is that Offiah got it wrong. Hardly for the first time. Gleeson is contracted to the end of 2012 and at present is in great form. Wigan would be mad to let him go now. As for future centres at Wigan, Goulding may replace Carmont end of 2011, Charnley could then take Goulding's place on the wing. There is also Stefan Marsh at the club and Karl Pryce as well.
  11. I had a lecture just like PS's from a quite a few Broncos supporters in 1994 when we arrived in the city for the WCC. We were told the Broncos were just too good for Wigan who's front row was sat at home injured. Wigan would never cope with Glen Lazerous, Kerrod Walters and Andrew Gee. Never mind Langer, S Walters and Steve Renouf. Wigan would be lucky to get within 30 of the Broncos at the ANZ. Just to remind PS, final score Brisbane 14 Wigan 20. I just hope one day that the British club that wins our GF will go over to Aus and beat them in their own backyard as Wigan did in 1994.
  12. If Inglis doesn't go to Brisbane then one of the big four will probably have to leave. Smith is their captain and very unlikely to depart. Cronk is their mid field hub with Smith and they'll have a new 6 in Widdop so again unlikely Cronk will leave. So that leaves Billy boy! Wherever he goes it will be on a 2-3 year deal and he's 27. He may go to AFL, Union or SL. Another option maybe is that a SL club will offer him a one year deal which would enable him go back to the Storm for 2012 when the new TV deal and it's revenue comes in. If that's the case then Melbourne and Billy would need to have it worked out with a club and coach they know and know they can trust. That club would of course have to have an overseas quota spot available and salary cap space to spare. Would be some signing, if only for a year, would Billy Slater!
  13. Wigan will have more power up front as Coley is back and it's thought Feka will play. Deacon will start at 6 to give better direction and an improved kicking game. Sam T will most likely be at full back giving real pace to the outside backs. Wigan will have to be at their best. No matter who's wearing the black and white they'll give it everything they've got. Looking forward to it.
  14. Widnes will be in Super League from 2012. Well done Batley for the very good win but it won't make one jot of difference to Widnes joining SL. If you are anyone else are in doubt then put some money on it. If there's one safe bet around, Widnes in SL is it!
  15. Wire win on the face of it. The only way they will struggle is the heat. It is forecast 80 degrees in Perpy and that is hot for Rugby. If it is anything like as hot as when Wigan were there then Wire could struggle with a 6.30ko.
  16. Hull have injuries all over the place and are struggling for a goal kicker. Wigan have injuries but no where near as many. With Coley back and Lockers into his 2nd full game Wigan could post a good win here.
  17. Ryan McGoldrick, not the only one but a cheap shot merchant of the first order!
  18. Last Friday v Wire Wigan had 10 players either through their academy or Wigan born in the 17. The previous week v Salford it was 11. Wigan's quota players, I think! Riddell, Bailey, Phelps, Roberts, Kolpac/EU. Carmont, Feka & Richards. Home grown - Hansen, (Leuluai. He is hg by Quins so is Federation for Wigan) With the new comers here for next year we think the ones leaving will be Riddell (confirmed) Bailey, Phelps & Feka. Four overseas out and three in. This potentially under the new RFL rules leaves Wigan with one vacant quota spot and three Kolpac/EU places.
  19. I'm glad all three are coming to Wigan if the press are right. Lima is a good front rower and he will join Fielden & Coley, Prescott is there and Hock could well return in 2011. Hoffman is excellent and also a big man 6'4" and around 17 st. Wigan's 2nd row next year could be Hoffman, J Tomkins, Mossop and Hansen. Three of those are 6'4". The Wigan pack has lacked this size, aggression and skill for years and it is now being put in place. As for the overseas quota. As has been said Riddell, Feka, Bailey and Phelps will probably go. There have been rumours about Roberts returning to Aus but no one really knows. If they sign there won't be any trouble with the quotas or salary cap. BTW Leuluai & Hansen are now considered "home grown" under the new rules.
  20. Warrington were worse than dreadful in the first 20 mins, it was then Wigan should have been far more than 6 points up. I said then to those around me it wasn't enough of a lead and we would pay for it and did. Once Wire got their game together they were good but not totally convincing. The Wire pack ran the show for an hour, outsized and bullied the smaller and less experienced Wigan forwards. Fielden & Prescott ran themselves into the ground but it was never enough with only two props against the opposition front row. Tuson is not a prop but played there again, Mossop may be in time to come but not now and Wigan lost him in the game. Warrington played well for the last 60 mins, were the better team and probably deserved the win. Wigan had their chances again when Farrell should have scored. Technically not a great game but exciting throughout. Had a neutral speccie sat next to me who said it was a fantastic match and he applauded both teams off at the end. These matches are very close, Wire beat Wigan by 7. Earlier in the season Wigan win by 2. Wigan beat Saints by 8 then Saints win at Wigan by 2. Great stuff to watch. What a great game is Rugby League!
  21. Whelan has offered the club for sale for some while with no takers. That would be at Premiership prices though. If the 'tics were relegated then everything changes, especially prices. Would not surprise me if long term DW sold up. No doubt Ian Lenagan would be interested in the ground although he can't own the 'tics whilst owning Oxford Utd.
  22. Wigan will miss Coley and McIlorum, both were in form. They will have Deacon, Lockers, Hansen & Mossop in to add to the strength of the squad. Warrington just leaked six tries against Cas at home. That will worry Smith. If Wigan can come to terms with the Wire pack then the pace and skill out wide could be the undoing of Warrington. Should Wigan concentrate on going wide then they could tire out the Wire forwards if they are being moved around the park at speed. Wigan 28 Warrington 12.
  23. Close game for an hour then they won't be able to stay at Wire's level!
