That is a VERY odd figure … it looked like there were way more people at SAM v GRE last night than at the previous game at Doncaster (FRA v GRE) but the figure for that later game was 4182 ! -

Insane pricing for what is sure to be a total mismatch … and they wonder why they're struggling to break even ! Anyway, for what it's worth, I still love this tournament and from the Q/Fs onwards all games should be magnificent … and they ALL deserve to be sellouts! -

OK noted, thanks And to make lower behind the sticks seats as expensive is yet another mistake IMHO … -

Yes but what struck me about this ENG v FRANCE match watching it on TV in Oz was that all the seats on the side of the pitch in the stand in front of the camera (ie the expensive seats) all looked pretty full. It was the seats in the stand at the end to the right of the camera that had plenty of empty seats … and surely this was where the cheaper seats were. Yes ??? Or have I got this wrong … -

OR it could be that the ticket site is busted and giving the organisers the wrong info? ie, the ticket site computer may be telling the RLWC organisers there are "less than 3000 seats" when in fact that is not the case Just a thought … cos otherwise these press releases are pretty outrageous … -

So what profit, if any, did the 2000 rugby league World Cup mate? Or did it make a loss? I felt very depressed watching it on TV in Oz … it really was a poorly organised event that also suffered from bad luck… I think the current one is much much better so hopefully it can reach all its targets or go close and make some sort of a profit, fingers crossed! -

OKAY, so back on topic: What is the latest on ticket sales for ENG v FRANCE ? Are we going to get an actual long-promised first RLWC 2021(22) sellout? And hopefully a good five-figure crowd for AUS v SCOTLAND too ! -
Brilliant story, thanks for posting

Not sure where this Twitter person is getting his or her information from, but £40 million seems to be the breakeven figure… So we need £40 million to break even - and anything over that is a profit for the IRL ?? or maybe, as some posters have speculated, the IRL has already received some sort of fee? it is all a bit vague… IIRC a week or so ago Mick Hogan was saying on Twitter this was the most highest revenue raising rugby league World Cup ever. https://twitter.com/TheGameCaller/status/1583093291826163713 -

Troy Grant is head of the IRL and he doesn’t get paid a cent! I heard him say that on a chasingroos podcast, his is a purely voluntary role! Which I find incredible… -

Because the organisers of this rugby league World Cup kept saying that the women’s Euro total attendance was one of their targets. -

So the TOTAL after week 1 is 95,243 … as a guesstimate I'd say week 2 and 3 would be the same, so we are looking at roughly 285,000, then making more guesstimates/optimistic predictions, maybe about 60,000 for the 1/4s, 90,000 for the semis and 75,000 for the final. So as a rough optimistic guesstimate that's 510,000 in total for the (men's tournament). Maybe a more realistic/pessimistic figure would be somewhere between 450,000 (the 2013 target) and 500,000. The 2022 Women's Euro target of 574,865 looks unobtainable, unless women's and wheelchair matches are added on. -
