  1. Perhaps it is a case of needing a lower salary cap in SL? Or perhaps the clubs should stop spending so much on overrated antipodeans?
  2. This idea has been touted before and it has never been a good idea. Rugby League does not have enough big day occasions to justify having a dedicated stadium, and if it is shared with another sport, who will be using it far more than we could hope to, it wont be our stadium and hence wont be a good choice. The fact of the matter is, we don't need one at all and building one would be a real negative. I recall when the english football team were travelling about the country whilst wembley was being built. It really convinced me that, whilst no doubt Wembley is a beautiful stadium, it was totally unnecessary. For the first time English football fans were getting to see the club from all over the country, not just those prepared to travel to london or those in its vicinity. It benefited so many to have the national team travel. It just made sense. Now we have wembley again and we have lost that sense of fairness and support drummed up from the whole country not just the governing, most pampered part of it. A RL stadium would be even more useless. What do we have now? The England team occasionally travelling to Wigan, occasionally playing in Huddersfield, occasionally Hull, occasionally elsewhere. Almost all of our fans get the chance to see them no matter how hard it is for them to travel long distances. All of the stadiums above, and the city of manchester, old trafford and elland road and all the places I've seen the country play in over the years are more than adequate in both size and facilities, so why build one that would take all of the games? We would lose the chance for all fans to see them locally, we would be sharing with a football team ingrained in the stadiums history and at the end of the day, it just makes no sense. Leave as is. Rotate the stadiums for internationals.
  3. Play me the smallest violin! The largely temporary difficulty faced by one of the demoted teams is absolutely no reason to keep teams in the championship indefinitely and without hope and whilst I support getting the championship right if there are teams in it who are suitable for promotion then give them a chance. The hardships faced by a club in super league being demoted would be nothing compared to assigning clubs in the championship to the league forever. I have absolutely no idea why some people think demotion is controversial, why they "can't relegate team x or y". If anything, I'd promote up to three from the championship if there are three with the chance of making it.
  4. Thanks Bowes. I'm just considering posting about the astrological signs of both clubs and how it spells their doom.
  5. They're not quite the champions as the playoffs are to come but they have been by far the most consistent team in the championship this season and deserve a lot of praise with the way they've ran their club. Well done.
  6. Our crowds speak for themselves. Barrow, well, a catastrophe. This was meant to be a big fixture for them.
  7. A name change to the second tier and everything is sorted apparently. Except diluting the league further and adding pointless teams will only add to the lower league clubs woes and wont actually solve anything whatsoever. I think it's time for pie in the sky ridiculous ideas like the above to be put on the back burner and we look long and hard about how to strengthen what we already have instead of unnecessarily gambling with it. Simply calling the second tier Super League 2 wont change a damn thing and if you stick yet another french team in there and compound the problem with less fixtures you are on a complete disaster. Are you Richard Lewis?
  8. Sounds like McCormack wanted to work with youngsters and nurture the next generation and he couldn't do that in Barrow. Shame.
  9. Seems to be a lot of turmoil at the Barrow club. With the severe drop in crowd averages and the limited success in both competitions despite no youth policy things are not going well for them!
  10. I've seen quite a few pics of this match now and there is no way there are as many in each stand as people are claiming there would need to be.
  11. Apparently we also have a hive mind. It's very useful.
  12. What questions did you put to me? I think we both know what aggression I am referring to. You had a dummy spit of epic proportions. It was hilarious!
  13. What's the matter? With the aggressive attitude you have been displaying recently you'd think Barrow had been precluded from applying for super league or something.
  14. Did you ever find your dummy Mick? I assume it was long hidden with your dignity and sense of honour.
  15. People are always banging on about us. I suppose it's better than people ignoring us like they do with Barrow and Leigh but yes, we have to react to it.
  16. Clark has said nothing for 20 minutes!
  17. According to Clarkey, Huddersfield are now a minor irritation! Absolutely laughable bias. If this man can't keep his bias even veiled then he has no place commentating on sky rl. Two teams here Phil.
  18. It is even better to see the football lot walk out. Wigan's a rugby town. Get rid of 'em.
