  1. By being blown away by it, it also reveals that he doesn’t understand his market. For a Commercial Director, who has been with the organisation for a number of years, not to know the market is astonishing and should send alarm bells ringing. But then the Tonga series demonstrated that
  2. Nothing I've heard from Jones has left me with a positive impression of him. In fact, as much as I don't wish to be derogatry about someone I don't know, his comments often come across as him being clueless. This being the latest one - the fact he's blown away by a WCC getting over 20k fans is mind boggling. These are premier events and should sell out. I really have no more confidence with him at the helm, as I did with Rimmer or even Wood https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/wigan-warriors-rl-commercial-chief-blown-away-by-world-club-challenge-ticket-sales-hints-at-taking-spectacle-overseas-in-2025
  3. Interesting development if true........... The Odsal Stadium lease is not expected to be transferred to new owners before the end of February, Love Rugby League has been told – and the stadium’s long-term future could be uncertain after it emerged the terms of the lease no longer guarantee rugby league has to be the venue’s primary use for any new owner. https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/exclusive-more-details-on-odsal-lease-saga-revealed-including-key-change-to-agreement
  4. Yes, my point was some supporters make lazy accusations at clubs not recruiting young and up and coming players but the majority of NSW/Q Cup players were not eligible for visas previously so the pool was very limited. Those that were eligible were on the cusp of NRL and often would rather wait for their chance there
  5. I agree, however the real catalyst to this change is the alteration in visa rules which allows a far greater proportion of NSW cup or Queensland Cup players to be eligible to get a visa now. A really positive development, particularly as they’ll often be cheaper signings with points to prove
  6. You could just go to Vegas without her.............I'm sure you'd have much more fun
  7. Defensively he will be but he will offer more in attack. If Hurrell and Blake line up on one edge, the opposition will have a field day
  8. I’m of the view that u18s makes more sense. It aligns with the men’s game and narrows the gap to u16. Most likely the best 18-19 year olds will already being playing senior footy anyway. My issue, as you alluded to, is there’s been no reference to any change of age representation as far as I know
  9. Found it odd that he wasn't back in the starting line up in the latter part of last season, with Schneider starting ahead of him. Seems there was more to it. Fitness is often alluded to, but could be more to it than that
  10. Starting up a new team. I’m curious though, what league will they play in? I thought the age level under seniors was u19s? https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/it-completes-pathway-hull-fc-9016427?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target
  11. Being hosted at the Ed W. Clark High School. I’m looking forward to the massive event
  12. All relative I suppose. £300k liabilities is probably not hugely significant if the owners are comfortable taking over Truro. I’m not sure what you’re expecting from a 3 year old club based in a virgin area for the game. As an aside, Harlequins RU had liabilities of £4.8m at their year end.
  13. slip of the finger. Same also applies cos I can’t see the Rhinos winning owt either!
  14. Be nice to see someone in primrose and blue win something this year
  15. Does union in Georgia still get a lot of support from that multi millionaire private investor?
  16. No surprise that dinosaur Stuart Pyke referencing him as the former Great Britain rugby league coach. Clueless
  17. Andy Ackers set the comeback in motion, by far the Rhinos best player and only senior player to really impress. Of the youngsters, Jack Smith looks a real athlete with bags of pace. Probably won’t get much game time in 24 with him being 5th choice centre behind Newman, Momorovski, Roberts and the returning Simpson but a stint in the Championship could open up the opportunity to replace Newman in 25. Elsewhere, Nicholson-Watton looks a mongrel of a player, akin to Reuben Cotter in style. He was the best of the youngsters and I expect he’ll get some game time in 24. Morgan Gannon went off with another worrying knock (possibly another head knock)
  18. I disagree, they may not determine the season but they are an indicator. Game is very similar to last years. We look dysfunctional and clueless. Wakefield with a rookie and hooker in the halves are dominant. They also have half a team missing. Its going to be another long season (but I knew that already)
  19. Leeds 16-0 down and Walmsley has just bombed a sitter. Lawford and Jowitt running the show
  20. It is the season of goodwill and Leeds have been very giving. Reminiscent of last years Boxing Day game. Ominous for the season ahead
  21. It is more common due to teams playing more games so often youngsters would get an opportunity in short turnaround games such as when we had 2 games over Easter or in a dead rubber at the end of season. There’s also not the same strength in depth in super league so youngsters get more opportunities
  22. There are plenty of kids who make their professional debuts at 17 and don’t go on to become anything ‘special’. Harry Tyson-Wilson being one example. Having debuted for the Airlie birds at 17, he dropped down the divisions, even to the community level before now being banned for drug use at the age of 28
  23. God forbid a club looks to generate revenue
