  1. 3 home wins.... Crusaders to win away, but a very tight game.
  2. All home wins. Not North Wales Crusaders game this week so hopefully a chance for us to get a few bodies back to full health! We have a horrendous injury list - lets hope the break helps get it shorter!
  3. I understand your point but the gulf between local open age players and League 1 standard is massive. West Wales Raiders tried a season with local Welsh lads and got battered week in, week out. North Wales doesn't have a history of rugby league clubs or players playing at schools and although we've had a few successful players, anyone who has any rugby league talent tend to gravitate to the clubs in close proximity to us over the border. Last weekend we had one of our first players coming through the WRL pathway but even that is being supported by a club in England (Salford Red Devils). I'd like nothing more that Welsh players to come through but out local open age competition is nowhere near the high standard of the NCL, so to compete at League 1 level we give opportunities for players from our neighbouring NCL clubs. Where else would they go if not given that opportunity?
  4. Thats exactly what he did against us in our game against the Rams. Still an excellent player.
  5. I'd agree, it wont be long before we'll be asking fans to take their boots!! If anyones wondering what the Chronicler is talking about heres the list of players injured, suspended or not available for the Cup: Injured Alex Eckley - Shoulder - Long Term Paul Nash - Broken foot - 6 Weeks Jono Smith - Personal leave - Unknown return date Dec Hulme - HIA protocol - Potential return v Workington (Rd 5) Johnny Griffiths - Knee - Long term (potential season) Brad Billsborough - Shoulder - Potential return v Rochdale (Rd 6) Rob Massam - Hip - Potential return v Workington (Rd 5) Jack Holmes - Shoulder - 2 or 3 weeks Suspended Dave Gibbons - Return v Midlands Hurricanes (Rd 7) Dual Registration The below dual reg players will be missing for the Challenge Cup game v Keighley- Danny Moss Mckenzie Buckley Lewis Baxter Josh Lynch
  6. We had a good craic with the Oldham fans in the pubs in Old Colwyn before the game, so a big THANK YOU to Oldham fans from me too ....I hope it was warmer in the smoking shelter than it was in the back of the stand!
  7. It sounds quite similar to what happens in Masters Rugby League....which is great as the idea is to protect the older players while allowing tackles for the younger ones (25 to 49 year olds!). Masters is designed as a social game played in the right spirit...but I'm not sure that it would work for open age games.
  8. I think we were our own worst enemies! Whenever we got in the last 20m we made errors, lost discipline and shape....just really struggled to score. We probably had the lions share of territory and possession but didn't capitalise. The one high point was Rob Massam getting his 200th career try.
  9. Also remember to put your clocks forward and don't miss an hour of the game!
  10. It wouldn't have been able to have been played at Eirias....fortunately we got an away draw at Keighley.
  11. That would be a great draw. We haven't been to the Top House for a few years now!
  12. I think we have to remember that Thatto Heath Crusaders are one of the top NCL teams. Don't forget in 2019 they beat a stronger team than we had out on Sunday. I'd take an away game if it resulted in a bigger payday for the Club!
  13. Just catching up after yesterdays game. A real good crack from Thatto Heath Crusaders; a well drilled skilful team with some big lads who made good progress through our tackles and never took a backward step. I'm glad we won and don't have to face them again this season! Lets hope North Wales Crusaders get a decent draw in the next round.
  14. If anyone reads this please encourage other fans to use the Supporters travel from Wrexham...and book their place in crufansbus@gmail.com by Thursdays at the latest. Bus will be cancelled without the support of the fans to use them. Diolch
  15. Doesn't appear to be any incentive to run an Academy, or a Women's team....or a wheelchair or disability team. There doesn't appear to be any award for the work clubs do in their community.
  16. Dewsbury, Oldham and Doncaster in the other games....and of course a North Wales Crusaders away win at Hunslet!
  17. Good points: Ashtons try. Bad points: smith decision to send Brierley off, but worse was Drinkwater signalling "10 minutes" with both hands towards the ref. Ref should have spoken to him for that.
  18. Yet last year North Wales played within the top 3 all season, beating heartland teams to boot.
  19. I bet the lads at Thatto Heath are licking their lips at this fixture. Last time we played a CC game at their place they deservedly won. Lets hope its not a repeat this time around. Looking forward to going back to Thatto as we always get a great welcome there.
  20. Love the pre-game coverage on Channel 4. Instead of the usual tripe from pundits they've covered the inclusivity of Rugby League with comment from two Physical Disability RL players and namechecking PDRL, LDRL and Wheelchair RL. Great to see Channel 4 showing the great variety out there.
  21. If GB Police are anything like their Masters RL team, they dont train regularly together due to coming from different Police forces across the country. If Westgate are the well-drilled side you have watched then I'd expect them to win.
  22. A bit of a nonsense statement...surely every team will give everything to beat every other team....they don't just play hard because its Doncaster!!
