  1. I think a lot of us are ready to walk away. I've been involved nearly all my life but I'm just disillusioned now. If people want a part time game played in a few towns in Northern England with no international games for England then I'm sure they'll get what they want. Too much self interest in RL has stifled the game on lots of ways
  2. If the NRL don't allow any players to come over for the WC then we all need to boycott watching the NRL. We need to start a mass exodus
  3. I think that's what I'm going to do. I won't stop watching RL as I enjoy the game but if I want to watch regular international rugby then Union is the game. As a parent I think Union is the best bet to take your kids as there are many more opportunities for them, especially if they have the potential to turn pro
  4. I might switch to union. I'm sat watching Olympics 7s involving many countries. I can watch 6 Nations, Autumn internationals, SH internationals involving SA, NZ, Australia, Argentina, Lions Tours, Heineken Cup, World 7s circuit and a well organised, well publicised WC.
  5. I agree and feel for the players. My preferred option would be a u turn by Australia and NZ so that everyone gets the chance to play. Unfortunately I dont think that will happen so this would be the next best option
  6. I'd love it if some of the Australian players started declaring for other nations so they could play in the WC. The Trobojevic brothers could declare for Serbia, if they take one of the vacated spots, Tedesco for Italy, Moses for Lebanon plus the PI heritage players who qualify.
  7. It's also given the WC lots of publicity. I imagine there will be a lot of nationwide media coverage when the official WC announcement is given. If they announce its still happening then the WC organisers should be able to use all the publicity to sell lots of tickets
  8. If England do end up playing against France and other NH nations instead then we all need to get behind it and make them a big occasion regardless of the scoreline. We should all now push for a regular NH competition.
  9. You have quoted me and then in your post put something I didn't even say. Can you underline where I said we are OK. What I did say is that RL is a good product just undersold.
  10. It depends if it's the NRL clubs or the individual country's governing bodies that are actually behind the decision. I personally don't think any SH nations will be coming
  11. I think we all agree that International RL needs a strong NH competition and that should be the aim. The major hurdle at the moment is that England are so far in front of everyone else. France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jamaica and Nigeria could provide a competitive tournament without the need for NRL players. Give them regular games and support player development in these countries. I'm not sure what the plan for England could be without SH teams providing the competition
  12. As a product the game of RL doesn't need to change anything. I believe the game sells itself. SL and the RFL just need to find a way of selling and promoting it better.
  13. Completely agree. We need to develop NH RL. Domestically in the UK as well as other counties such as France, Balkans, North America, Central Europe. A good starting point would be getting more juniors from different backgrounds playing the game in the UK. The professional game in the UK could also support some of the domestic leagues in the other countries to help them develop. On the International front we need a full international calendar involving nations that don't rely on the NRL for players
  14. Bring back the Mediterranean Cup. Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Italy, France and Malta. Would be pretty competitive
  15. And soon to be Widdop by the sounds of it
  16. I rate Farnworth and agree he is good enough to be in the squad. However, there's nothing wrong with a coach setting high standards for his players, especially international players, then following through if someone doesn't meet those standards
  17. If I had to choose a player for England who hasn't grown up here it would be Radley. Dad is English so has a strong claim
  18. I was actually thinking that as I was typing. Makes sense really
  19. Does he have to turn down an origin career? I thought they can play origin and still declare for another country if eligible now
  20. I think community clubs running tag leagues could work well. It would bring in lots of people on a midweek evening and also raises awareness of the club in the local community. It might even attract a few volunteers or players to the full contact side of the club as a result. It could also be taken a step further where each club who runs a Tag league in the same town/city/district could then select a rep side from the players to compete in a 1 day tournament against the other clubs. Another idea could be to run a play off between the winners of each league at the different clubs
  21. I personally would like to see Elite 1 become more of a continental league for new clubs from Spain and Italy, such as Valencia. Elite 2, a Spanish league and an Italian League could then run below this.
  22. Yeah it would be massive. It might not happen but hopefully the domestic game on Scotland continues to grow
  23. Would be good to see a few clubs pop up around the Aberdeen and Dundee areas
  24. Think it might have been tongue in cheek
