  1. I saw Leigh game. You've got to give credit to Sheffield. No team is going to lie down and that will go for Dewsbury too on Sunday. Leigh are a very good side and it's hard to maintain top form in every game Batley will be wanting to do themselves a favour come Monday night too just like they did with us.
  2. Sorry I didn't mean to compare Fev with Saints (I wish) The parable was Don't give up
  3. I know where you are coming from Coolie. It's a vicious circle. Rams fans stop going in case they get embarrassed and players haven't the heart because there's nobody cheering them on. Money is tight nowadays and fans think about spending their money on something else. I really don't know what the answer is. It's alright for me to go crowing about losing heart while Fev are in this present position but I do truly hope your core support can stay loyal and hope better things might be around the corner for all clubs. But as far as levelling up a lopsided league is concerned I don't know the answer. I promise you this though if it's you that's consoling me at 4 45 on Sunday I might go home and kick the cat I don't mean that- We haven't got one
  4. We (Fev) went in droves to Widnes when St Helens played us there in a challenge cup game a few years ago. We knew they might get 50 or 60 but we went to cheer our team on. They got more than we thought 70-0 it was in the end. I blamed the ref for six of their tries You know what, our fans thoroughly enjoyed it many of whom were doing the conga around the stand. We know Fev will be heavy favourites on Sunday but nobody really knows what might happen in sport. Sendings off and things like that. We put 50 odd up against Batley and the week after we were lucky to escape with a draw. I'm aware also that Dewsbury ain't at Batley level. But don't give up shouting for your team. I've watched Fev get walloped on numerous occasions and felt just like you over the years. Players love fans to get behind them. So get yourselves to the Ram Stadium. Cos truly you will never know. Early in the millennium Dewsbury were lording it over Fev and the day might come when that happens again. We Fev fans enjoy our visits to Dewsbury and Batley. Proper set-ups. It's only sport. So go and give your lads some encouragement
  5. Try and get a player sent off like Halifax did and you'll have more room to throw the ball about.
  6. If players didn't miss tackles wouldn't a lot of games finish nil- nil. It's a team game were the opposition exploit defensive weaknesses. I wouldn't be too harsh on Hellewell or anyone for that matter.
  7. Standing behind the sticks at Odsal is abysmal. Watching the highlights on you tube made it look like a far better game than it appeared by watching it live last night. Identifying certain players at the other end of the pitch was almost impossible and the off loads at that far end looked even more incredible than first appeared. It was a poor turn out from Fev who have one of the best away followings in the division but I can't blame them that refuse to go.
  8. You make sense Robin. It can only go two ways. Its sport and it's Fev and it lightens up anything else that's going off in the world. Roll on Friday
  9. Your concerns are my concerns too Rob. I think Chizzy had been stifled at Batley by the present structure both he and Jacks were almost playing like a mirror image with straight up in the air kicks etc. The present two half backs have skills of their own but the ones I am missing are the off the cuff plays. The crafty interceptions and 80 metre runs and kicks out wide to Hall etc. Smith is excellent in defence and his toe kicks have defences panicking on the try line. Jacks is now taking the line on and looks quality when he does. As for Holmes his cut out passes were sometimes sublime. We all have favourites and Chizzy is mine but at the end of the day the coach is answerable to results and like you I just wonder if at the end of the day that Fev might rue not having an off the cuff playmaker. We will have to wait and see because it is a fine line we tread having so many skilful options on the side lines. One aim is Super League I suppose and the coach has been brought in specially to carry this out.
  10. Becareful though georgyboy. Cos you don't want to think you've reached your pinnacle too early. Start with Dewsbury and work your way up. On a serious note I think next season could be the best yet. So many teams have strengthened and I hope to be at a very cold York on a Monday night in the middle of winter.
  11. Coolie you need to get out of bed with the York fans. You'll be hating them again if they beat Fev and Leigh. A pattern is emerging that you are beginning to detest success. I bet you can't stand people winning loads of money on quiz shows and say that they are going on a round the world trip. I hope Dewsbury go on to finish second in the league and it might soothe your resentment. Keep posting though
  12. Too true Robin. You've got to embrace it and take it as a compliment. Envy is a terrible thing How many times have we bantered about other clubs signings particularly Leigh's and still they were successful in our league. Some posts though are vitriolic when it comes to Fev and that's a huge compliment. It will be no walk in the park and the championship standard will be raised next season. I see the super League have got a contract with Channel four. Funny that because allegedly they were initially interested in the championship.
  13. Aye George that's just what my computer said when I fed next season's predicted scores into my computer but the bad news for you was that it came back with YORK in eleventh position Some brighter news though is that the league table did not include Summer bash results. So two more points for York could lift you to seventh depending on other results
  14. I know and you would think we were going with one of the top sides with all the fuss that will be made
  15. Yeah it was a bit of banter with Coolie. They do have more than that.I also see a lot of houses going up around their ground and they might be able to benefit from that at some stage.Think Fev could do with 5000never mind Dewsbury
  16. That was just my rough estimate though Coolie.. You do realise that they will be back at Fev in the not so distant future so look after them
  17. As I see it Coolie it would have been a lot less bother if your 200plus fans relocated to Post Office Road and watched our up and coming stars rather than poaching them
  18. Scuppered already. Wigan say he has to do his time with them next year despite Zak not being happy
  19. The quote came from someone who said he would be Huddersfield bound if Fev were in championship. These rumours are getting tastier
  20. Have you heard the one about Hardaker to Fev if they get promoted?. I read that yesterday Mark
  21. Players bring different things to a game. Chizzy and Brown are pivotal to everything that goes on in a game. Jones is more off the cuff. Holmes excellent passer of the ball etc. Chizzy hasn't got the best tackling technique but defences are always aware of what he might and can do. He could be in the top three every week. His prime objective is to make other players stand out like he did/does with Brad Day for example and Craig Hall just revels in the luxury of having a fantastic half back to work with.
  22. Game has changed since those days Colin. There would be too many blow out scores. There is enough of those now. Think the two tens is the best option of getting teams of equal ability. Then have a third league below those and allow one up and one down. Teams can build then without getting slaughtered score wise. Promoting the game on terrestrial TV like the recent 100s cricket competition would be helpful. There would be certainly be a case for a couple of inter divisional games within the top two divisions to make up the fixtures. But whatever they do they want to make the change a final one and stick to it.
  23. Let's hope we've got some more good news on Sunday evening Roger If you get what I mean
  24. PM should you beat us on Sunday we shall be coming hunting. So best have a word with them
