Farewell Brett Carter

Town finances were extremely influenced by what was being paid to overseas players (and 1 in particular) and the cost of the coach as well

Cutting their cloth accordingly this season, which had to be done for the long term future of the club

As well as a couple of more experienced heads the squad needs a couple of overseas ringers who want nothing more than to play and live in the UK for a year or 2. An Okesene and a Tuimavave will do!

considering the high costs involved are overseas players viable at all in Champ 1 ? surely there are any amount of UK players capable of playing 3rd tier pro rugby and then if and when you proceed financially and at an higher level then introduce overseas talent as and when it is feasible .

For the overseas players for Champ1, I mean no more than paying their airfare (£800-£900) over here and then help them find a job. Its the overseas player who wants to develop and play rugby in England, not look for a pay day. If they don't exist, then fair enough. Plus there are the visa issues.

The crux of the matter with oberseas is that in yhe past you could pick up guys on overseas working holiday visas and give them a chance.

The system worked for both parties then as it gave relatively unknowns who hadn't succeeded at home to play over here wuth a chance to get noticed for superleagur or get a decent job locally and make a new life.

For the clubs they could find real gems relatively cheap e.g. limmer jt luise ken kerr at town and fats lester etc at haven.

There are new rules with border controls regarding suitability which quashed that.

This was brought in as a reaction to the "theyre stealing our jobs" brigade so when brexit comes in the aussie players with non uk european passports e.g. Jarrod sammutt will fall under a similar bracket and be more difficult to find and employ

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."
