New Stadium again.....

Prompted to send this by two things. Reading the excellent interview by Chris Thorman in the Daily Mirror, I came across this bit:-

“The stadium got knocked back by the previous council, and there’s a new council in now because of the elections,” . I guess it's just some miscommunication, but it was the other way around. The reason why I , respectfully, point this out is because of the second thing I read, a report of the full ABC meeting in the News & Star (5th March).

Current Clowncil Leader, Mike Johnson, (Conservative, from Aspatria) presented a budget that involved cuts additional to the ones required by the Conservative Government. It was passed by Tory/Indept(sic) members, who make up the ruling alliance. The Clowncillor in charge of Finance, Jim Lister, ( Conservative, also from Aspatria) in supporting the budget, stated " “We need to keep costs under control and not commit ourselves to long-term liabilities.”

Now hold on! Doesn't that mean that they would see any new stadium as an undesirable 'long term liability' ?

Prior to these budget pronouncements, Directors were taken on a free trip to see some stadiums. Have they been taken on one big ride? Surely the BOD need to demand some public answers ?

One of the 6 being our ex-Chairman, Dave Bowden

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.
