Kevin Sinfield & Rob Burrow have been robbed

Just having a rant as it really "boils my pi$$" regarding the frankly ludicrous decision to award a poxy CBE to both the legends that are Kevin Sinfield & Rob Burrow, absolute travesty that both were not awarded a well deserved knighthood. The work both of them have done to highlight the issue of MND and the amount they have raised is beyond belief, both of them are modern working class heroes who I know will say they dont do what they do for awards and recognition but by christ they deserve some.

Alright they have received a CBE which in today's modern world means diddly squat, knighthoods carry gravitas and respect which these two heroes without question deserve. Obviously the elitist powers that be who decide these honours think that the bloke who founded Wetherspoons and made himself millions in the process (and was a supporter of Brexit which probably helped) deserves a knighthood much more than two genuine heroes who have bust a gut "literally" to raise funds and awareness for MND and will probably continue to do so.

The whole thing is a joke and I'm just glad that the rugby league community (and probably the vast majority of the country as well) appreciate the two of them for what they are (legends!!!!) and wish them both all the best for the future.

Rant over!!!!

To support what OV has said there is a great article by David Walsh who is the chief sports' writer for the Sunday Times. It's a full page of how anything Rugby League is shunned by the establishment. He makes reference to other sportsmen/women who have made millions out of just playing their game and not doing anything for anyone else. In the past 20 years, he says, "Clive Woodward, Ian McGeechan, Gareth Edwards and Bill Beaumont ,twice, have all been knighted. Have any of them done more for others than Kevin Sinfield?" He says not!

He continues to say, " It is still remarkable that no one has ever been given a knighthood for services rendered to Rugby League. The contrast with union makes this even more baffling. Ten notable former union players have been knighted ................. if you're guessing that the honours' system has favoured one class of people over another, you're probably right."

It's interesting to note the first recipient of a knighthood for "services to rugby" was George Rowland Hill who was totally opposed to workers up north being paid for loss of earnings when playing rugby. Thus causing the great schism and the breakaway Rugby League.

Are Kevin and Rob bothered, I suppose not, because that's what makes them the men they are.
