Saw the game in full last night, and thought it was an excellent game. Hull KR will wonder how they lost it, after twice going two scores up. But Wigan have some players with the ability to create something out of nothing, and were pretty ruthless during the two sin bin periods.

One the yellow cards, not sure what the first one was for. A flop, or holding down? Don't think it was a flop myself, but the irony is that KR would likely have got the ball back if they'd allowed a quick play the ball. There wasn't another Wigan player anywhere near the play. I thought Whitbread's was pretty clear cut, and have no idea how the ref didn't see it. He was looking straight at it. But yet again, player A does high tackle on player B, ref misses it, and commentators decide to talk about player B.

I think the ref saw it as a flop and then holding down. Field sliding with his arm up with the ball means that the situation hasn't been completed. Burgess then releases him in a controlled fashion, being first off after a glance behind to scan how his defensive line was looking.

Good defence IMO, misinterpreted by the ref because of the glance from Burgess and the appealing from the Wigan player going to acting dummy-half. That made it seem that Burgess was holding Field down and stopping a quick PtB, when it wasn't actually the case.

The Whitbread one was rightly a yellow. That sort of shoulder to the ball-carrier is a yellow in 2024. I don't think that one should be all that controversial, although the way that one gets to the card is rightfully being discussed.

The way we trigger a video ref review should be sorted out, but I found some of the commentary on the Whitbread / Dupree incident a bit much, with Wilkin talking about punishment for Dupree. Some of the talk about players staying down is a bit of a deflection tactic imo, because ultimately Whitbread let his team down by not being willing to bend his back into the tackle
