Yeah I understand what you mean - Players themselves will usually not want to be pulled out of the game even if it is for their own benefit.

I am not sure what exactly the tests are now, I just recall them mentioning having tests that don't allow for as much "bias" so to say with trainers being friendly with players, etc.

I do like the NRL version, with independent medical experts being able to call players off if the club staff seem to have missed something. But that's probably going to cost money that the European game doesn't have.

Wigan have always got a chance with French and Field in the team, and Mago and Nsemba on tonights evidence

I'd be adding Wardle as well. He can cause havoc from anywhere. Needs to be kept under control.

Complete and utter nonsense. Even under the free speech umbrella where anyone can say anything, that's is rubbish.

It’s within the rules, I get it. You get to define the culture of your club, it’s none of my business mate to be fair. If you’re happy with it, that’s cool.

100% it would be the ideal way - We would also need to match the NRL for number of cameras to fully allow doctors a view on what has happened.

As a RL fan, I know not all head contact is going to result in a penalty, or even a stoppage in the game - but it would be great to have the NRL's resources so Dr's/Medical Professionals could view incidents and decide if a player needs to come off for a HIA.

You ever been hit like Tanginoa hit Miski?

NRL fans can still disagree bitterly on incidents that are captured in multi-angle HD, both at full speed and super-slo-mo.

Would all that technology have significantly changed the reactions to tonight's game? I don't know, but my hopes aren't high in a couple of cases.

No of course not, fans of either side will always view incidents completely differently depending on what team they support.

I was merely hoping for player welfare/safety rather than anything else.

The incident involving Dupree - I didn't need huge amounts of replays to see his reaction and the one replay showing the shoulder to the head meant he should have gone off for a HIA, and I am not a Dr.

I have able to view the situations without rose tinted glasses of having my club involved in them.

Did Dupree stay down as he felt contact to his head? Perhaps, I don't know.

Did he get a shoulder to the head? Yes.

Did Miski stay down as he felt contact to his head? Probably not, as he didn't get contact to the head.

Did Miski stay down as his head went a foot back from whiplash from Tanginoa's hit? Yes. Was he hurt because of that? Perhaps getting that kind of whiplash has an affect on a human body.

One thing about the Miski one is that they are the worst kind of tackles I ever received. They are also the ones in which with hindsight I was concussed. I can recall 2 in particular to the chest area that just cut me in half and rocked my head back. Far worse than any head contact I received.

Yea I am sure his head was ringing from that whiplash. His brain would have smacked around his skull for sure from that replay.

No. But I’m not a professional rugby player. So what’s your point?

The bridge will be up on eBay later. It’s very nice, has lovely brickwork and suitable for a wide range of rivers.

A professional rugby player is still human. Have you actually looked at the replay to watch Miski's head rock back?

I watched it and he said that Burgess shouldn’t have joined the tackle.

I certainly didn’t hear him say to Burgess he binned him for laying on.

The commentator incorrectly assumed it was for laying on. That’s how I saw it.

if I am wrong I will apologise naturally but it even came up with flop on the notifications.

The ref says "it's a flop, you then wrap him up. It's 10 minutes in the bin"

If Burgess had flopped on and then got up without looking around like he did then he wouldn't have been sinbinned.

I am surprised that Peters seems to think that HKR were much the better side and only lost because of the sin bins.

Dupree’s head was hit by a shoulder, which, if the referee had seen it, would have been a yellow or red any day this year. Indeed, Wigan have had players sent off and sin binned for precisely that. Moaning about its being picked up later is childish - the correct decision was made.

Likewise, Burgess was lying on after we had cut them to shreds, and their defence at the other end of the pitch. A quick play the ball and we score. That has been a sin bin since the dawn of time.

That was a terrific game, between 2 excellent sides. A repeat at Old Trafford would be one to savour.

Great game and a great atmosphere. It was a pleasure to be there and watch it live. I find it a bit of a shame that so much is being made of 2 yellow cards tbh. I think the better side won on the night and 9 clean breaks to 2, making 300+ metres more and scoring 5 tries to 3, suggests that was the case. HKR are good enough not to need excuses made for them. They played their part in a fantastic game and have every chance of going all the way to Old Trafford and winning.

It's going to be some end to the season.

Thanks for that.

Field is sliding along, arm up. In no way is that a flop. Burgess regains his feet before the whistle.

Just play on; two players completing the tackle with good defence.

I would hate to be the one to mention to Peters that they only won the semi final last year because Shorrocks was sent off for a tackle no worse than the one their man got 10 minutes for, and that he does in fact coach Mikey Lewis, and so the whole “I coach my players to be lovely lovelies” line doesn’t work…

Just goes to show how two people can view an incident very differently.

Agree to disagree 🙂

TOP TIP: If unhappy because you don’t like a decision, simply print off a hard copy of the league table, take a pen and mark it to say whatever you want it to say, and then stick your version to the fridge. Job Done! “Justice” is served!

The game is a mess with these decisions and coaches and fans tie themselves up in knots. Anybody having a go at players staying down and moaning about decisions need to make sure they're consistent and are equally upset when decisions go their way and as we've seen in many cases, they're not.

Fantastic atmosphere tonight, and one hell of a game which could have gone either way.  KR fans were great for their team.

Simplistic appraisal I know but Wigan ended the game the better side and enjoyed a bit of luck for the French try. They looked to have run out of ideas and a mistake in the build up caused enough confusion to allow him to dance through,

Great advert for the game

It's a discussion forum.

Click is an intelligent poster and I think it has been a respectful exchange, where we have seen the incident differently.

Decisions go for and against you win some you loose some.

Facts are two very good teams played a very entertaining game with a great atmosphere the game could of gone either way ifs and buts both ways.

Rugby was the  winner tonight and a repeat meeting (reversed result of course 🤞) will be welcome at old Trafford the only team I see close to the two on show tonight would be a full strength Leigh.

Well done Wigan.

Agree with all that but I wouldn't write off Wire. They have plenty of big game experience in there now, in guys like Williams, Powell, Bateman etc (wonder where they got that) and if they can get Dufty back and firing, they'll be a real threat. He can't play the games for them but Burgess won't let them fade away and they'll be tough to beat throughout the play offs. I also wouldn't rule out Saints. It's a longer shot but get everyone back and there is no side with more experience of winning play off games.

It's shaping up to be a great play off series and it feels pretty open to me.

Agree completely. Never been closer, never been harder to predict the outcome. That is how it should be, too.

One thing, though. This forum topic had been almost ruined by the insistence on trying to find fault with the refs decisions with, in some cases, no-so-hidden challenges to player honesty and referee quality.

It's not like being at the game,  where emotions run high and crowds react instantly and loudly in the heat of the moment. Yes it's a discussion forum, and the best in the game, but the continued harping is dragging it down.

Just watch -and enjoy - the game.
