barnyia Posted September 19 Posted September 19 The tems have reinforced this year, the quality of imports looks pretty good especially at st Gaudens and Villefranche, Catalan have named a strong squad for Saturday, The only team that may struggle badly is Toulouse, but they have quality players but very young,
JonM Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Some interesting ideas being floated in La Depeche by the FFR president: https://www.ladepeche.fr/2024/09/19/entretien-rugby-a-xiii-competition-franco-anglaise-matchs-de-lequipe-de-france-elections-internes-les-projets-du-president-de-la-fede-12206199.php - Another club to join Super XIII next year - ideally someone from outside Occitanie, such as Bordeaux or Lyon, but more likely to be Salon from Elite 2. - Possibly switching to a summer season in 2026. - A pre-season game between the Championship winners & Super XIII winners, a corresponding game between the L1 winners & the French Cup winner, and same for Women's and Wheelchair league champions, to run for 3 years - A championship in 2 groups to include 4 French Clubs alongside the English clubs, from 2029 - France will host the WC playoff in 2025 with the winner of next month's euro competition facing S. Africa, Cook Islands and Jamaica. - France v England to go ahead in 2025 5 2
barnyia Posted September 19 Posted September 19 With the water restrictions in the South of France in place you already have to try to find grass on the training and playing grounds in September, imagine in july and August playing 80 minutes on dust!

Gomersall Posted September 20 Author Posted September 20 https://www.ffr13.fr/super-xiii-le-championnat-de-rugby-a-xiii-reprend-ses-droits/ This Saturday, the French championship "Super XIII" resumes its rights. New name, new season with the rise of an additional club: Villefranche-de-Rouergue. The latter, determined to shake up the hierarchy at the highest French level, will start against the reigning French champion: Carcassonne. From now on, eleven clubs will compete for the Max Rousié shield and try to stop the Audois supremacy. The Super XIII is ready, the clubs too... now it's time for the game! Carcassonne - and its new trio of presidents (Fabienne Albert, Ludovic Bérail and Bernard Tondereau) - is the great favorite of this 2024-2025 edition. Albi, unhappy defeated in the 2022 French Cup final and championship in 2023 hopes to reach the final again this year, but this time, to win the title. Behind, four clubs trust the Top 6 of the new formula. After the usual departures and arrivals in the off-season, Pia, Limoux, Lézignan and Saint-Estève XIII Catalan approach the championship with humility and ambition to perform. In the Comminges, Saint-Gaudens is now coached by the duo: Cyril Moliner and Olivier Janzac. With a reinforced workforce, the Bears confirm their intentions to play at the top of the table. Avignon, who must manage Renaud Guigue's departure on the bench, wants to prepare for the future with his agreements (U19 and Hull KR) with the former Saint-Gaudinois at its head: Mitch Garbutt. If Toulouse Elite will still be in the hard term this season with many young people from the U19 and the training center, the Leopards of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the promoted Villefranche XIII Aveyron are going into the unknown. David Collado's players, beaten 16 to 14 last weekend by Villeneuve in the preparation match, are not yet complete. The first "pawns" will be advanced this Saturday for the very first season of the Super XIII. Without "bluffing", the committed teams will undoubtedly offer a most breathtaking 2024-2025 vintage. Make your games! 1st Day – September 21-22 SO Avignon XIII vs RC Saint-Gaudens XIII Saint-Estève XIII Catalan vs FC Lézignan XIII Carcassonne XIII vs Villefranche XIII Aveyron Villeneuve XIII RL vs XIII Limouxin Pia XIII vs Albi RL XIII 1 1
