Barring an act of god , Oldham away .

Couldn't have got a worse draw IMO .

Ideal world you want either a winnable game or a big name with some form of financial gain, not sure got either .

Fingers crossed their squad and big name signings don't gel 🤞

Yeah really tough draw, they knocked us out at home last season!

Won’t be easy but I’m sure we’ll give it a good go,assuming we get past Maryport/Crosfields first.

Any idea of the day next weekend? Would assume avoiding Saturday mid-afternoon due to home game at Holker St.

Stack banned for Sundays game due to Grade B head contact v Whitehaven.

Always wondered how this is monitored,is it from being put “On report” by ref during game or cited by the opposing team?

Maybe a bit of both?

Big test against big spending Oldham on Sunday,I would say we go in as huge underdogs.

Anyone think we can spring a surprise?

Going to be a massive ask but I think so, betting man's money is on them but we've beat better teams than them in the past .

Their team looks pretty stacked on paper full of former super league players but they are really old.

Jordan Turner - 36

Ian Thornley - 33

Danny Craven - 33

Gil Dudon - 34

Mattie Wildie - 34

Matty Ashurst - 35

Adam Milner - 34

Elijah Taylor - 34

Kieran Dixon - 32

Josh Drinkwater - 32

Craig Kopczak - 38

I'm unsure how many of them will play but at that age they will be slowing down, the first 10 players were in the 1 - 17 on their website. I think the bookies will put them at 16 point favourites due to the names. I recall the bookies putting Keighley 4th favourites for promotion and they ended up getting relegated so you never know.

Key to winning games early in the season is completing your sets and kicking well. Flowing attacking rugby usually comes after 4 or 5 weeks. If we are within a score at the 60 minute mark I fancy our chances.

Spot on there, vast majority will play ,think Jordan turner is injured and the only other doubt will likely be whether Danny craven partners Drinkwater or Riley dean does .

Not really convinced by there pack , dudson and kopzcak are well past there best ,chapelhow brothers look the part but are bit powderpuff for me

Real danger will come from milner, their halves and edges

Not sure where your thinking is?  Dodson has already stated he is fitter than when he played SL, Koppie is a squad member, nowhere near first 17, and the twins Powderpuff??

More aggression in a spaniels fart than there is in the twins .

If dudson was remotely near his best he sure as heck wouldn't be playing for you in the championship

Unless, of course, he turned down full time rugby in order to pursue a career in the financial sector. Whereby part time rugby would be more conducive to his new business!!! 🤔

Realistically he would have been offered an extremely low SL contract to the point where for most players it would have been financially better off going to the championship alongside another job. That's how most players drop out of SL and go into the championship.

He's will still do a job, but I think the point remains that the age of the Oldham squad is definitely a concern, regardless of how fit they're claiming to be.

Josh Wood injured. Brett Carter and Bedward likely won't make the 17. If Broadbent is selected, only question is whether to play Toal or Teare on the wing. Toal is faster on attack, but poor defensively, so I'd go with Teare who's more solid.

My guess the team will be:

1. Cresswell

2. Bulman

3. Costello

4. Teare

5. Toal

6. Walker

7.  Johnston

8. Walker

9. Smith

10. Silva

11. Robson

12. Greenwood

13. King

14. Bishop

15. Pye

16. Wilkinson/Bedward

17. Stack

Broadbent has missed most of pre season so I can't imagine him getting picked over Teare and Toal.

I'm unsure who starts at second row I don't think it makes much difference.

Unsure who he will go with out of Wilkinson/Bedward. I'd be more inclined to go Wilkinson to rotate with King as Silva generally does big minutes.

Pretty strong team to be fair.

Oldham fans reckon they'll walk it. Hope the players go out with the same attitude 🤣

Don't know which 'Oldham fans' you've been talking to but no one I know thinks we'll 'walk it'. In fact everyone i know thinks it'll be a very tight close game. Of course we're hoping to edge it. Also I'm pretty certain Longy will have our players attitude focused and grounded. Let's hope it's a good entertaining tough game.

Maybe or maybe not this game, but Cresta told him not to expect to start every game this season like he has in the past.

I put I wasn't sure. I personally wouldn't put him on the bench but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he was.

I work in Oldham and several have been saying they think they'll win by 20 points. Personally I think it will be a good game. So pleased to see Oldham on the up again 😁

Wasn't at the game, but saw Oldham's first few tries on youtube and our defence was pathetic. Couldn't watch anymore after that and switched it off. No surprise that we got beat but the margin of the loss was embarrassing. RR said Oldham fans thought they'd win by 20 points - turned out to be 38! OK, let's move on and focus on the league and next Sunday's home game will tell us a lot as to where we are as a team.
