JAKE CONNOR has admitted that he ‘never really’ looked elsewhere after signing a new deal with Leeds Rhinos back in December.
The 31-year-old won the Super League Man of Steel in 2025, scoring eight tries and kicking 93 tries in 28 appearances in his first season in amber and blue.
Connor had signed a two-year deal with the Rhinos ahead of the 2025 campaign, but without an outlined position, there were question marks over where he would fit into Brad Arthur’s side.
However, after nailing down a halfback spot alongside Brodie Croft, Connor went from strength to strength to become one of the greatest players in the top flight last season.
And, after being out of contract at the end of 2026, the 31-year-old was more than happy to get his future sorted before a ball has even been kicked this season.
“It’s definitely a relief, it’s something you don’t want to focus on going into a new season,” Connor said.
“I wanted to get it done and dusted before the games came around so I didn’t have to think about it anymore.
“It’s a long deal so it takes me until I am 35.”
Did Connor ever contemplate looking elsewhere?
“No, not really, I’ve loved my time. here. The club has got the best out of me since I’ve been here so I want that to continue.
“I want to continue to give back to the boys as well, they’ve stuck by me.
I’ve just got to concentrate on playing now for the next four years.”
