LONDON BRONCOS are set to step up the creation of a new talent pathway with sessions at their impressive Hazelwood training complex next month.
The Surrey venue will host matchplay festivals for juniors during the Spring Bank holiday at the end of May.
It follows training taken by Broncos coaches at community clubs Brixton Bulls and St Albans Centurions over the Easter schools break.
Around 150 boys and girls from under twelve to 16 level were involved in the sessions, which form the first steps in the London Broncos Talent Pathway.
The ambitious capital club are pushing for a Super League berth under Australian owners Darren Lockyer and Grant Wechsel.
There are plans to relaunch their Academy, which had been highly productive but was scaled back after the 2023 season, with the club considering how to most effectively use their then-budget in the knowledge that development systems have no value in terms of the IMG club-grading points which determine top-flight status.
The Broncos have this year rejoined the RFL’s Reserves competition.
The second team was dropped after the 2024 season as then-owner David Hughes withdrew his financial backing in the wake of the loss of Super League status under the grading system.
Meanwhile London’s women’s side compete in the second-tier National Championship.
Their fixture against Salford on Sunday, May 10, will take place at the Cherry Red Records Stadium as Wimbledon at 1pm as part of a double with the follow-up men’s Championship fixture against Midlands Hurricanes (3pm).
