WIGAN WARRIORS coach Matt Peet knew his side were in for a tough game and that is what they got in the heat of the MKM Stadium.
“It was a very tough win and Hull certainly made it a challenge for us,” said Peet after Wigan’s 20-16 victory.
“It was great to come out of the other side with two points. I am proud of the players and the character that they showed.
“The players knew what sort of game they were going into. We didn’t start the game the way we should have but we managed to ride it out.”
After losing Liam Farrell (shoulder), Luke Thompson (foot), Patrick Mago and Noah Hodkinson (both head), Peet was complimentary of the way his players rotated when he said: “We had people swapping about and it was enjoyable in learning a lot about the group.
“Noah passed his HIA and we will have to have a look at the others.
“The heat and the crowd didn’t have an effect but there were people doing uncharacteristic things.
“The important thing was we needed to give ourselves a chance and we did.”
